Or am I just being a sentimental, and overly imaginative, fool?
Nah. Let’s blame someone. Someone other then me.

And the man at fault is...everyone’s pal RAF Lou. There are others with him (three others come to mind) on the ship of blame but primarily him. Captain and plank owner of the USS Blame.
For years (literally) he has been touting the BBC series “Wings.” I’m all about anything WW1 aviation but always too busy - till now. Courtesy of the fabulous Internet, a new data plan, a site with all episodes, and fancy electronics, I have been watching an episode a day, occasionally two, for the past week. Watching the trials and tribulations of our brave lads in the RFC, protecting hearth and home, and of the loved ones they have left behind. Captivated I am. I’ve seen plenty of movies and read plenty but nothing presented in the...action and personal drama department like this.

The result? I have deleted my two German careers and am now flying strictly RFC. Even have a couple of two-seater careers. No Be2 though - there is a limit to human strength and endurance.
But was I really expected to strap on an Alb and wing down from the blue putting Sgt. Farmer, Lt. Gaylion, and Capt. Triggers in my Spandau sights?? And shoot them down? After all we’ve been through together? And what would Mom say back home? And the girl left behind? Nay! wink

So to the German half of my family we can blame Lou while the British half rejoices. Time for some tea. And to be thankful neither the French or the Germans have a similar TV series to muddy the waters!

I watched the series 1 and 2 when they came out in the 70's... I loved them.
Could not believe it when they brought them out on dvd a few years ago... purchased them straight away.
The bloody things are addictive!

Duke, as I am on holiday with, as our friend Lou describes, “She who must be obeyed “, Wings has been my salvation. As I am ready to roll a good two hours before she is, I can watch an episode or 2 without pacing around like a caged cat, which pisses her off and makes the rest of my day miserable. So far it has worked like a charm.

Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear or a fool from either end.

What is this site with all episodes you mention? The only place I found Wings was youtube, and the quality there is terrible:(

Even the DVDs have poor source material. It's all that survives so we have to live with that. It's not too bad and Wings is a gem.

Never turn back!

So far all the DVD editions are not “North American Region” compatible. Even the darn Canadian copies.
Not a real movie guy besides the classics (as I define them) but I do know what that means.
But if I’ve learned anything it’s just a matter of switching search engines. I presume this played on the American PBS channels back in the day.

Coming through again Lou. Order placed and awaiting confirmation.
Hmmmm. That worked well. What else can I blame you for?
Seriously though thank you for the link and the original show recommendation.
And to celebrate? A 1915 Be2 career! Weird observer or no!
