Wonderful! The goodies just keep on coming. Thank you OBD. Can you elaborate on: 6) Revised aircraft 'death physics'.?

I’m sure many will recall the odd but true story of the RE8 flying on with a dead crew? "One of the most unusual incidents of World War I occurred in December 1917 when a 3 Squadron RE8 was attacked by six Albatros scouts. After bringing down one enemy aircraft the gunner was mortally wounded by a bullet which passed through his chest before striking the pilot in the head, killing him instantly. Although damaged, the RE8 continued to fly by itself until it ran out of fuel and landed relatively intact in a snow drift some fifty miles from the scene of the combat. The Albatros bought down in this engagement was presented to Australia as a war trophy and is now on display at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra." I’ve seen the Eindecker fly on in a lazy circle after the pilot was sprawled on the starboard wing (partially). I didn’t mind it to see it once in a blue moon, but most of the time the plane would most likely be out of control and falling after killing the pilot. Maybe keep it for stable airframes?

Were there complaints? I don’t recall any...? Fully half the time I lose sight of my opponent anyway, when he goes low and I go high unless he catches fire or something, so I don’t see much of the “death ballet.” You’re doing it right then*. Remember the advice drummed into all new RFC/RAF pilots: “_never_ever_ follow him down” (because to do so would be to sacrifice height, and thus render you vulnerable to any other Huns in the vicinity). Mike *wish I could learn to do things right, at least half the time..
