Beautiful shots guys.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

OK [drum roll] it's 'spot the Beta 1.19 improvement' time.

First up, who can identify what's been improved with the Spitfire I?

[clue alert] You're lucky that didn't take off your radio mast, old bean!

It's a bit clearer in this pic:

Is it the missing 'gas patch' on the port wing? I admittedly haven't watched that closely...but I seem to recall it was there, and I know it's been discussed...

No, not that. The gas warning panel was never universal and though popular these days, I'm happier when it's not there. But the change is very visible in the last pic.

No other takers, so it's the radio mast. Before 1.19 the Spit had the 3rd type of mast, a simple spike, but this should have had an internal aerial not external wires; it was used with the later TR1133 VHF radio, not the more common TR9D HF set. So it now has the 2nd version mast, suitable for that radio and more representative for the Battle, with a little triangular prong added to the top rear, and the antenna lead-in has been moved closer to the rear of the mast.

WotR was already correct in leaving out wires from fuselage roundel to tailplane tips, as this was for the radar-based IFF system (not the Pipsqueak DF one) that only started appearing late in the Battle.

Ok how about the Heinkel? There are two improvements here:

*lol* Yeah, not much way I was ever going to get that right. You've probably already forgotten more than I will ever know about that kind of detail on these planes. Your period knowledge is most impressive...but if I'm being honest, I'd never have noticed and I bet most people wouldn't either smile

If fixes are to be made, I'd strongly prefer a whole bunch of wrong aerials and gas patches, in order that attention could be paid to the sim's performance. And I bet I'm not alone on that, either.

Still, always nice to see your write-ups. Caused me to spend $ on more than one game, for sure biggrin

I hate to be critical but I've noticed a few more things which aren't correct. The Spit has the later Mk. IX elevators which were introduced on the production line in 1943 (the double-angled mass balance weight, Mk. I-V all had the earlier 45 degree balance weight:

The decals on the upper wings are also too small, and the wrong colours. But otherwise, the model is perfect.

Quite right - I hadn't noticed the mass balance. The upper wing roundel colours seem to have been very susceptible to weathering to the colours shown, though they are too small.

'Tis but a left-over screenie from my last AAR, but rather than waste it, I thought I'd put it here:

Ooooh, nasty! I've only ever had one mid-air with the new tightest formation settings, but I didn't hang around to find out how my Spit ended up...

[Linked Image]

...though Red 3 did provide a hairy moment, on my last show...

[Linked Image]

I like the fact that in 1.19, Station Commanders have finally acceded to the Air Ministry's instructions to camouflage the formerly conspicuously-bright grey hangars...

[Linked Image]

Airfields still look like airfields, and hangars like hangars, but at least the pen pushers in Whitehall will leave us alone, if not the Luftwaffe!

Yes indeed we got those in, WM did them late on. Just about, as it was trickier than just changing textures (and all the damage states) as we used hangers all over the place including France etc.

Looks like ye ole Spitfire seems to be a fan favorite based on the pics.
And rightfully so I suppose - good looking aircraft.
It’s no P-38/40/47/51 but not bad!
