Next week we will share some new information about Modern Air Combat (MAC) and the Supercarrier module. I'm so looking forward to this bit of the newsletter.... "Next week we will share some new information about Modern Air Combat (MAC)" been a while since we heard anything regarding FC4 (rebaged as Modern AIr Combat) where users who own FC3 will need to rebuy the upgraded version of FC4 (MAC) to enjoy all the fabulous updates to the flight models which ED began to offer as free updates to aircraft in FC3. Then there is the Supercarrier 'module'....Coretex designs when they were issued a 3rd party license for the F-18E\F hornet offered the supercarrier upgrade for free (like Razbam with the harrier). Now it seems with ED's version of the hornet, this 'module' will be a paid version and include all the bells and whistles promised by ED's endorsed but now defunct 3rd party licensed developer CTD (crash to desktop) design team. I may be wrong but that last sentence of the newsletter raised some eyebrows.

[quote=a bloke]Coretex designs when they were issued a 3rd party license for the F-18E\F hornet As far as I am aware they were never able to get to a point where a licensed was issued. All other promised content from them I do not know, I only knew about the Hornet they were trying to do.

I'm waiting for AG radar and TWS, then I will get the Hornet. Hope I don't need to wait long, but think I will esp for the AG radar, which there never seems to be any news about.

Buy it now mate. Nothing wrong with it. Couple of missing features here and a couple of missing features there, but otherwise it is a worthy investment.

If TWS is done right, you'll prefer to use RWS/STT anyway. And if the AG radar is done right, you'll prefer to use the pod. I'm waiting for AG radar and TWS, then I will get the Hornet. Hope I don't need to wait long, but think I will esp for the AG radar, which there never seems to be any news about.

You should explore the sim and not only fly in clear blue weather.

I am excited to see A2G radar as well, but I have heard many people say similar things, that A2G radar isnt something you will be spending a lot of time with once the novelty wears off.

Jane's F18 had the AG radar, and I spent much time in that sim, so I kind of use that sim as a comparison, and am happy to wait until the DCS Hornet has TWS and AG radar before getting it - I have the Harrier and F-14 which are in much more finished states, and they keep me busy. I hope progress continues on the Hornet - good to see the Walleye released - that was one of my favourite weapons in Jane's F18.
I think the whole "AG radar not needed because Tpods are used" is a bit biased since conflicts US aircraft over the last few years have been insurgency based with no major AAA/SAM/Air threats, and it's ok to do lazy circles at height looking through a pod.
Also effects of weather - overcast, fog, dust etc have been underrated and underestimated.
I am actually looking forward to the carrier module and ATC most, and will likely look at getting that.

Solo playing with limited comms and squadron management, or multiplaying with unsync'ed clouds ?

It has nothing to do with circling and everything to do with the ability to recognize targets and accurate weapons employment. IRL the radar is difficult to interpret. I think the whole "AG radar not needed because Tpods are used" is a bit biased since conflicts US aircraft over the last few years have been insurgency based with no major AAA/SAM/Air threats, and it's ok to do lazy circles at height looking through a pod.

Singleplayer is always best for "realism" but coop MP where cloud sync is irrelevant is also cool but all dead now it seems with online competitive "my penis is bigger than yours" and it's eject and spawn in new plane and takeoff from taxiway is replacing good old fun multiplayer from long lost days.
