After all these years WOFF’ing I thought I had seen it all but apparently not.
Flying a Balloon Defense mission (luckily) in my Dr.1 when I get a “System Failure” message. Normally the cause is pretty obvious but not this time. Check the Triplanes sparse gauge set-up and, seeing nothing, keep flying. Speaking of that what is the gauge on top of the cowling? I forget.

Anyway after about 5-7 minutes I start to hear a rather high pitched squeal and since I was behind the lines immediately switched off the engine thinking the next thing will be a fire. Was this a simulated failure of the lubrication system?

The one between the guns should be a fuel gauge from memory. For the oil you might have a transparent pulsator vessel that allows you to calculate the pressure by counting the number of pulsations over a period of time and then doing some mental arithmetic. Not sure if this happens in WoFF though.

Let's pretend I got the BWOC badge to embed here.

I’ve heard of the oil pulsometer before. Don’t think it’s in the Dr.1 ,and even if so, I can’t imagine it’s modeled in the game. DVIII should carry one if memory serves.

On top of all the problems, these early pilots had including machines that fell apart in flight. They had to do Math for the Oil pressure while flying. !

And finally had a quiet moment. It’s the fuel gauge.

EDIT: See you already said Fuel Gauge Ace_Piloto. Well your memory is fine. Better then mine obviously because I knew that before.
