Hi All,
I've started my build of this stunning kit. To save me writing up on a couple of sites, and because some of my family want to follow the build in detail I've started a little webpage / blog to record it. I'll post some little bits here now and then, but if you're interested please visit https://mfhmazda787.wordpress.com/ Please consider signing up for updates. (I'm pretty sure Wordpress won't make your email available to authors, but rest assured they won't be used by me for anything at all if they do.)

Some shots of the dashboard so far.

Hi gang,
I made a small update to the log. I'm away for a couple of week so there will be a short intermission.

Hi Kids!

The dash is finished, with some fasteners added to the box the rotary controllers are mounted on and some decals from the spares box on the controllers themselves. More detail at mfhmazda787.wordpress.com

Hi All,
A gentle reminder of my blog - www.mfhmazda787.com - where you can see me applying a small fortune's worth of carbon fibre decals.

We're adopting a new dog tomorrow, with all the chaos that can entail, so I might not get chance to make any more updates before Christmas. If so, have a great time everyone, enjoy any break you get from from work, and I hope all the non-modellers get a nice starter set in their stocking!

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Still plugging away. Getting on for 12 months work now. When I got this kit a relative asked me how long it would take to build finish. I said I thought I could make it last a year. A year! It'll be at least two, if I keep breaking off for other projects.

I've done the rear brake cooling intakes. One large resin piece, a white metal top part, PE 'splitter', after market fasteners and umpteen home cut carbon decals. Little model in their own right.  I didn't think I'd need to add shading and highlights at 1/12 scale but I think large areas of plain black really benefit form it, so there are some subtle effects jsut to bring out the detail a little.

I'm really enjoying photographing it with some accessories, so here are my latest acquisitions on the bench. (Don't start down the 1/12 doll's house rabbit hole - you won't come out alive.)

Asahi is my favourite lager. It's super crisp and goes really well with a good bowl of spicey noodles (Another of my favourite things!)

Hi All,
After a very long time packed away the big Mazda is back on the bench. I've turned my attention to the gearbox and rear suspension. Here's a couple of shots of progress. You can read more about it at my blog linked in my signature if you can be bothered with my shameless self-promotion. smile

A shot of several parts of the 787B. I stripped the seat of the out of scale flocking I'd tried and 're-upholstered' with some self-adhesive fabric. The front wheel discs have been completed. I also tested my new magnetic tumbler polishing machine on the engine rotors as I won't be using them in the model. (I also bought a 1/12 Henry vacuum cleaner smile )

Love the Henry...nearly bought one a few months ago but couldn't justify the price. If i know anything about mechanics, it's just thete for the looks anyway! It's also far too clean for a workshop bench and that beer is going down too slowly wink
