Wonderful!
..and great cinematography using the smartview feature. smile

I think the next installment is 'Bill's Limo', which was a defining moment for me for this game and flight sims in general.
Will be interesting to see how you'll deal with it.

I thought all of the old DID sims no longer could install/work in Win10. How did you do that?

After searching my cabinet, I found Total Air War and the F22 Red Sea Operations expansion disks, but no F22 ADF disk. Did you do anything special to get ADF to work in Win10?

Edit: I just downloaded the F22 ADF iso version, now what do I do?

Second edit: I got TAW 2.4 to run in 1920x1080 but I am having issues with controllers. What are you using? Does it only support one controller? How did you configure your stick?

Third edit: In TAW, the right throttle is stuck at 100% and I cannot get it to move down. I ended up using an old Saitek joystick that has the throttle and rudder on the stick.

Fourth edit: No matter what I do, the game will NOT recognize my Saitek joystick/rudder combo USB controller even though I designate it as #1.

Few years ago I wrote how I did install ADF+RSO in this post here:

https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads....-not-load-in-windows-7-64bit#Post3789396

You wont be able to use the installer from the CD as it is 16-bit program and will not work on Windows 10. All I did was I just tranferred the install folder from my other PC to a Win10 one and used newest nGlide 2.10 glide wrapper available from here:

http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide

Software mode crashes the game when trying to look into the sun as this will invoke color palette switch which will cause error on Win10.

You don't even have to run the game as admin, just set up the hardware gfx option so the game uses 3dfx.

One issue is that the AWACS missions will run too fast as the GUI doesn't use the glide wrapper which limits FPS to 60 thus bringing game speed to normal levels. TAW have frame limiter so the AWACS missions works fine there.

For the controller I'm using single USB device with throttle and rudder integrated, as older Windows games will not recognize more than one device (i.e. separate throttle or rudder unless you combine them into one USB device with some external program like ppjoy).

I also did a little hex edit on f22.dat file to fix smart view crash. It's mentioned in this thread here:

https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads....ash-when-browsing-smart-view#Post4005131

i think you can get around the 16bit installer issue if you copy over the cd contents to a folder and then swap the installer exe with a 32bit generic installshield installer - i have done this for many 90s win95 /98 games to enable installation - if you run the gamr slso thru dxwnd would that allow for a frame limiter of sorts to fix the awacs mission issue?

I have similar problems in Windows 10 with some applications/games. Try unplugging or removing unusued controllers in device managers and leaving only the one you want to use.

I don't know if they are Windows 10 quirks, but for example in PCem v12 which I use as a virtual gaming machine with Windows 95 and 98 my Thrustmaster T16000 will always have its X axis translated as X axis as well as throttle axis in PCem environment (when I move the stick left/right the input in PCem will move stick left/right and throttle up/down at the same time, moving my throttle axis on the stick does nothing). When I use Thrustmaster Flight T Flight HOTAS X, all works fine with PCem. Go figure ...

Thanks for the tip, will have to try it out sometime.

I didn't tried to run the game through dxwnd, though I did try to do it with dgvoodoo2 which also acts as a directdraw/directx wrapper - didn't checked AWACS missions, but it had other problems.

Yep, 'Bill's Limo' was tough and without the strategy guide, I had to work out that the enemies had to be dispatched in certain order. Still took multiple attempts, and I was on the point of giving up on the game because of it.

You might be able win the 4th mission by just flying straight to the landing airfield before those enemy planes get to the ships.
Anyway, great series. You notice a lot more when someone else is doing the hard work... smile

That might work as long as you get there fast enough. All the game is checking is if the ships are there when you land. wink

You absolutely right on that one. Even when I watch my videos I notice many things I completely missed when I was actually playing.

Great stuff!
I've watched a few more in this series and one of the highlights was watching you refuel manually, then maintain formation while your wingman refuels and checking his fuel level at the same time.
There was lot going on in this sim...
