Cool. I'll buy it as a birthday present.

I got it for my son on PS4 but I'm hopeless in first person games with a controller

I'm assuming the PC version will support the mouse and keyboard?

Nope. Epic exclusive deal (with keys via other stores to the Epic launcher to 'mask' the deal).

I've lived without it since release. I know the gameplay and story from Lets Play, and will not support this kind of 'timed exclusive' deal. The very stupidity of such a late release on PC already is annoying, but then to stagger the releases between 'exclusive game stores' is nuts.

Had it released on PC on day one. Ideally on GoG as well as Steam and any additional stores you want for diversity and 'better deals for developers' then I could have been all over it. This late, and with silly games about release scheduling still going on... I'm out.

It's not an exclusive, just an earlier release on Epic. Steam version in December. I can wait until then, or longer.
I'd still rather have the first one on pc, but at least this will be new to me.

As soon as it comes out on pc I'm buying it... Don't own a console and don't want one. I've been waiting for the pc version, at last!

It comes first on rockstar store, then on epic, then on the other key sellers like green man gaming etc, if you pre order before october 22, you get pre order bonus, that includes two games (that everyone who cared about them already have on steam) and premium edition bonus (whatever that is) plus some gold for online and 20% voucher to upgrade to the other two versions (what ? )
it comes on steam on december, however the way its worded it seems steam will not be part of the pre order (so you will miss all the bonuses). that is a big F.U to steam. its on purpose to leverage against steam that their sales are not enough to warrant the 30% cut they take no doubt. i really hope it sells more on steam just to blow epic, they clearly paid rockstar for that one month exclusivity against steam that has a bigger base for rockstar games than their own app.

It would be IF its not a typically sloppy port job, however I'm not overly confident of that being the case.

all rockstars games on pc were bad ports with the exception of max payne3, but that one wasnt a port, but built in tandem.

A mouse will make the aiming extremely better but the game is designed around the controller. If I ever got it on PC one day I'd likely still play with the controller because of the game's design around analog movement, horse gates and what have you. Its an excellent game. Like Raw Kryptonite I still very much want the first game on PC. With 1080p resolution and unlocked 60fps it would be like a dream. I still love that game's engine. Plus I'd be curious to see what kind of mods people come up with. I still hope they make a substantial DLC or expansion for RDR2 as long as its NOT undead nightmare type stuff. I really want to see more character study and story. I'd also like to see an increase in single player bounties. They were designed so much better in the sequel but there's only a precious few. The sequel gives the bounties more personality and little bits of lore and most of them were designed in a unique way making them different from one another. More hand made is what I'm getting at.

I'm also still baffled at the fact you can't go to Mexico. I was under the impression the WHOLE map of the original was included. I made it on the other side but it has some clever terrain design to keep you from going there. I did see someone make it over there completely using some sort of gltich and I even saw a horseback rider from the other side so that area is modeled.

It never occurred to me that a PC game could be controller-only. Any games like this? So whilst I have no info about this with RDR2, I m working under the assumption that of course it will have KB&M.

I have a X Box controller hooked up which I use with PES 2020 and Elite Dangerous (for the exploration modules), so I could always give it a try. You can get used to anything with enough repetition. But games where I am using one stick to control movement and another stick to control view usually don't end well for me.

When I played the PC version of GTA: San Andreas, I normally used keyboard and mouse, or course, but there were certain stages where a controller work much better for me.

Also worth noting that keyboard and mouse basically broke the shooting aspect of the game by making it ridiculous easy compared to a using a controller.

I expect the above will hold true with RDR 2 PC.

Yeah I played a lot of GTA 5 and used a controller for the driving or flying, and KB & M when on foot.

I have GTA V on PC,i played it 1st on PS3 then PS4..The PC version blows them away,IMO it certainly isn't a bad port.

did you play on release ? it was a ctd mess, used too much cpu for no reason, you couldnt even use extended shadows or that was a garanteed crash.

About PC game that is controller only, saints row 2, dark souls and dark souls 2,any capcom port from xbox 360. sure you could play with the mouse, and struggle to do anything with it,and that is not taking into the acounts the games that the menu assume you are using a controller like the injustice series, assassin creed up until unity.
i kid you not, if you hit shift and i think it was B, injustice just reset the characters in the screen, like in your face in the middle of a match.

I want to buy it just so i can play m/kb but the online side of it got stale too quickly (ps4) and was a super grind fest to get to the good horses and top tier guns etc. If you like single player stories with great characters in an open world and fantastic scenery the game is amazing in that aspect. You can lose hours easily just hunting the legendary animals. Bear stalking is fun af but fishing online for an hour just to get money and level up gets old quick.

If someone mods the game for certain areas like slow down the day/night cycle and a Clint outfit i'd be hard pressed to not get sucked back in.

Second all this. Open world games on console are my main timewaster these days (Witcher 3, RDR2, and now Assassin Creed Odyssey) ... great single player content reels me in.

I'm also hopeless at using a controller and button mashing, but auto-aim is my friend wink

I'm waiting for Team Fusion to release CloD 5 or Tobruk or whatever it will be called before I dive back into flight sims.

Nevermind. I just found out RDR 2 requires 150 gigabytes of hard drive space.

Nope.

That's ridiculous.

Wow, 150 GB is monstrous even by today's standards for PC games.
