Alexander the Great conquered most of the known world at the time by age 32.

Napoleon was promoted to General rank by age 25.

W.A. Mozart wrote 10 musical compositions by the time he was age 6.

I compare myself to my father, and feel so much less capable than he was, and I think that's common with "The Greatest Generation." He was hunting for food for his family at 5 years old, driving when he was 8, doing most of the farm work at their home while going to school, set up a mattress box spring as a inductive device to pull power from the power lines that passed through his property to power the house, and designed and built a house after coming home from a full day of work as an adult. Maybe every person of his generation couldn't do all that, but I think more could than the generations that followed.

The older generations were much tougher and more determined on average for sure, yet I can't help but think that I would be able to adapt to the challenges of living in my grandfather or great grandfather's era, more so than they would be able to adapt to this one.

Heck, my grandfather basically said as much, and he lived a full, tough life.

'Twas ever thus:

people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They
ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions.
Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?"

And his parents probably said the same about him and his friends.

I lived for years without things like electricity or running water, or even toilet paper.

When you're living like that time slows down - days are a week, weeks are a month...

Not because you have nothing to DO, it's because there's no such thing as ENTERTAINMENT.

When there's absolutely zero entertainment you definitely get a lot more done...

I guess that's just how the thread evolved because the original intent of my thread was to illustrate some people who were extremely exceptional at a young age.
