I wish it was SP, but I'll probably give this a go. Maybe there will be a good bit of PvE. Certainly a good looking game, just have to see how it plays.

Yes, same here... SP would be my choice as well, but like you I will give it a go regardless.

No Track IR support, though. frown

Anyone have it yet? What do you think?

Yep, been having fun with it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul2EybRaneI

Had one connection error as you can see by the video, but the only one since yesterday. So far aside from that it works alright, Iam playing on my other PC (i5, 8GM ram and a GTX 1060) and again from the video you can tell it runs pretty good. Initial loading screen takes a bit, but not to bad. It´s very immersive and fun IMHO.

You have a fighter, bomber, corvette, destroyer and a carrier to choose from for now. Havent tried HOTAS (it´s on my flight sim PC), or my XBox gamepad, so running with the keyboard for now. I like the Idea that you need to LOS/LEAD your target in order to hit them (at a distance), you also need to manage your speeds, especially on planets, overall very sim like so far.

I bought it from there web site (none Steam), so no need for Steam, but you do need to create a account on there site. They send you a mail with the launcher, pretty straight forward.

From what I have red, they do plan to have a offline sandbox mode with bots in the future.

Some help on there forum to get started:

How is the player population holding up?

I only got 6 months out of Elite Dangerous before all the players left and went solo/Mobius, so I'm wary here. Those 6 months in Elite, though, were some of the most thrilling months of robbery, villianry and sociopathic criminal behavior I've ever had in an online game. > : )

Err, sorry. Tax collecting. We all love when they shake us down for money. In a official capacity, of course...

Max I have seen in EU servers is around half (50%), but the game uses bots too, so that makes it more populated. I jumped in last night (Sunday) and it was around 34%. I think the biggest turn off for some is it´s actual price, they should tone down a bit with that. That said, from the comments on the in-game chat, folks that do try it are happy they did.

Devs do state that they foresee a on-going development, in other words, they don´t see themselves not developing the game at any stage/time. So expect the game to grow.

Numbers are ok for one server. The game is kind of cool but it gets old fast. The current meta is for everyone to group up and just roll around the map which is what killed planetside 2 for me.

New update v0.7.7.0. Now the battles are focused to one place, which means no more scattered players all over the map fighting different battles. It´s tug-of-war with attacker vs defender.

Is this just combat oriented Red? Or is it like E:D with different things to do?

EV's are the Devils matchbox.

I want to buy this, but multiplayer focused games depend on a healthy player population, especially ones that need servers of 50 - 100 people. After being burned a couple of decades ago by multiplayer only games, I am very leery now, and that makes me sad, because I have been following the development of the Infinity Engine for over a decade.

I understand your position, and I think your not alone in that. While multiplayer seems hard to code (from what I hear), there´s more developers going that route now days. What makes me think at times that will there be enough player base for all of these games and the future ones to come? As you stated, this type of game play is dependent on players online, will there be enough for all these platforms?

Yeah I know the world is a big place but at the rate games (MMO) are coming out I sometimes wonder. Not to mention the hype that has one jumping to the new trend MMO. We are to dependent on the internet, if that falls were will this games go, and those who own them?

Anywhooo´s, just thinking out loud!
