I had a Sony Trinitron CRT from about 2002 and I loved that thing.
Its cool to know that apparently game tech has caught up to the CRT. I prefer the idea of going back to a CRT as opposed to upgrading to a 4K flat screen. I've never been happy with the LCDs I've had over the years compared to that Trinitron I had. Glass screen and always looked so good. I imagine this would work well to for the modern consoles too. Older consoles and their games don't look as good either anymore on flat screens as they did back on the old CRTs.
I'd be curious to know how they hooked up the CRT to a newer gaming PC. A series of adapters? Was theirs a VGA connection adapted to an hdmi output on their graphics card? How would you avoid any loss of quality by going through adapters?

Ah the good old days..... Brings back a memory of a Squadron night IL2 session when one of our players said, "leaving the keyboard for a moment chaps, my monitor is on fire.."
Also thinking of the Music Centres with tapedeck and turntable I've chucked out in the past, now in high demand here in UK. Good job I've held onto VHS player...might be worth a fortune!

Tell me about it. My last CRT monitor was circa 2008 and it probably weighed about 50 lbs. Once you go to TFT/LCD you never go back!

Besides having less room, difficult to move around and the heat generated by them, I'd still back to a CRT however I'd like at least one thing to be different. They always had crappy plastic bases, at least mine did, that did not match the quality or wieght needs of the CRT. Even worse was the last TV I had back around 2007. Its molded plastic base was a series of thin walled edges with no beefy, safe sections for your hands. Unless you had help moving it, it was painful and almost impossible to move that sucker by yourself through a doorway that's not quite wide enough.

I watched the whole video, all I saw was capitalization of reduced resolutions and higher refresh rates. I did a lot of gaming on CRT monitors.
I was a Luddite with that for a long time, I don't see why I'd go back now...
But I can get how using obsolete monitors could yield "spectacular" results on a modern game, and I DO miss the fact that with CRT monitors you could change resolutions for performance reasons and it'd still look good...

Follow them and wait for the following video where they will explain how they achieved this and explain this in depth.

Only people that still watch "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits" have CRT's and sit on the porch and talk about their enlistment during the Korean War

Yep Brit44 .... for defense I'd also prefer a Glock 17 over an old Army .45

No more CRT but you really can't get the same color and graphics on a LCD as an expert can on a ' That's why some graphics artists, photographers, etc. still use them.
In example the game EAW - 1.28 series - if you use a well made and dialed in CRT with the game running in D3D (or Glide but few PCs will be work with it) using 24-bit .bmp tiles with full colors then you get a much better experience than the old game in 8 bit. Of course a lot depends on the graphics card and driver also.
Recently I fired up the game on a nice Sony laptop but sadly there was no compare to even my toshiba with the Intel HD system which in game even withwithout .bmp tiles is stunning. see the screenies here: https://appdb.winehq.org/screenshots.php?iAppId=4841
Sadly these are not real good examples but that sky - is to die for, and its not in 24-bit. I never had a better view in all my 15 years with many pc on this game. Now if could get a CRT like an old Sony it would really be amazing.

You can also get much better sound quality on a turntable and vinyl than streaming on a mobile device but we all know where the consumer market went with that.

Yep, close enough is gooder enough, as long as it's cheap.

And convenient. You can’t exactly bring a turntable and vinyl records with you if you want to listen to music “on the go”.

The real difference is the listening environment, IMO. The amount of background noise when "mobile" is enough to mask much of the finer difference, in my experience. Not to mention mental, visual, and aural distractions that are stealing attention from the music and it's reproduction.
