And here is the whole Squadron in formation thanks to Pol and WM. I am still making personal tweaks to the Formation spacing, so these do not reflect what WM is doing in the next patch for WOTR. It is just me trying new settings.

The different sections do get a little anxious at times, Green Section racing a bit ahead of where it should stay(far left Vic in the picture). Blue and Yellow sections(far right Vic, middle Vic, int the picture) are holding the correct Formation position very nicely. What I likes is the ability to move around a bit as I am sure happened in RL. Nice work OBD!

And one I just really liked. The quality cockpit, the shadows, the clouds and environment. Really awesome IMHO!

And then I encountered this tonight in my Luftwaffe Campaign over the Channel. Plus there were 9 Ju87s in the mission also. winkngrin clapping Next I am going to mess with the Kette and Ketten formation settings. The Vic and Scwarm are as good as they are going to get.

Lovely pics, and good to see the different individual aircraft ID letters and that the Spits are featuring both A and B Schemes on their upper surfaces. The Spitfire's upper wing Type B roundel does need to be larger, though, they were supposed to be as large as they could be, without impinging on the aileron, notwithstanding any exceptions. The unsightly gas warning panels seem to have been on their way out from about mid-1940.

33Lima your comments are acknowledged but I don't believe OBD have yet implemented code to address aircraft selection based on skin changes over time. In fact It would require rework of the squadrons with many different changes based on timeframe. It is probably doable but not enough skinning staff to address it at this tme.

Just my opinion!

Understood and fully appreciated Robert - which is why for the sake of greater realism, it's desirable to use the capacity which does exist to feature a representative appearance, rather than an exceptional (or possibly inaccurate) one.

For example, MJF Bowyer's 'Fighting Colours' features a multi-view drawing of Hurricane I L1768 GG-K after delivery to 151 Squadron in January 1939 (before the ID letters changed at the outbreak of war) and this DOES feature SMALL B Type blue/red roundels on the upper wings (and fuselage sides for that matter). And the same book even has a photo showing L1934 OP-D of 3 Squadron with one such small roundel on the port upper wing and none at all on the starboard, which the author says he saw 'on quite a number of fighters including Spitfires'. And there's a pic of 611 Squadron's Spits at Drem in April 1940 in the Osprey Spit I/II aces book with what looks like exactly the same small upper wing roundels as featured on the WotR Spitfire. But during the BoB, most (if not all) squadron service Spitfires had the regulation, larger Type B roundel on their upper wings, so if there has to be one type of roundel in that position on the WoTR Spit, the larger one is objectively the more realistic choice. Just like if you HAD to choose a single RAF fighter undersurface colour for the BoB, easily the most representative choice would be Sky/duck egg green, not the earlier black/white or aluminium.

Not that bigger or smaller upper wing roundels would have helped with the first engagement featured here:

As for the gas warning patch, without it seems to be the most common for the period, and a vet quoted in 'Scramble! - a narrative history...' mentions seeing them in many places, but not actually on their aircraft.

I appreciate your input and yes changes can be made going forward. I offered my skinning skills but I am far from an experts on the aircraft in BoB. I have utilized historical data that I had access to with limited research time given the OBD schedule.

In fact I"m sure OBD would welcome any skinners with your knowledge to come on board. The assistance would certainly be appreciated. Any effort could be put towards cleaning up inaccuracies. If you are willing, we could use your help skinning.

At the moment my focus is to complete some necessary changes OBD has asked for.

Best Regards and thanks for the constructive criticism, it's appreciated.

Ah, if I only had the skill and patience with a paint program to match the size of the modest library! Only skin I ever made was a CFS3 Ju88A to whose stock skin I added 'wellenmuster' squiggles above and a well-weathered temporary black finish beneath, which somebody must have liked as it was (with full permission) added to the ETO expansion...

[Linked Image]

I wonder if we have some similar sources - some of your excellent Bf109 skins seem to be based on the profiles by Richard Ward in the classic Osprey Aircam Battle of Britain Special, which tried harder than most to get the 109's common upper camouflage patterns right (but not quite, and still had most in 70/71/65 instead of 71/02/65 or even early versions of 74/75/76). Still a pretty good source after all these years, although thanks to it, I got the lighter undersurface colour wrong (choosing Sky, instead of the likely correct Aluminium fuselage and White starboard wing) on a model I made back about 1980 for an old workmate's dad, of his 616 Sqn Spit, L1055.

[Linked Image]

But I digress, keep up the good work.
