I didn't know about this plane, but I do now!

What a fantastic piece of equipment it was. #%&*$# shame. Glad they are okay.

All about what it was:

Award winning competition pilot. Overconfident and misjudged wind component.

Every takeoff and landing is an exercise in training, experience and judgement. So easy to get it wrong.

Flying isn’t greatly dangerous, but it is very unforgiving of mistakes.

Even bites good pilots.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

OG - that reminds me of a poster I have up at home, that I got from my grandfather when he passed away.

"Aviation itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity, or neglect."

A quick google of that quote shows that I guess that very poster is very common...

Not from behind. More so from the left side.

Painful to watch. He barely started his roll before he lifted off.
