“Whiplash” last night.
No need to be a jazz lover to enjoy every sec of the performance!

It's certainly one of the seminal pop culture iconic films of the 80's.

Plenty of plot holes to nitpick if you want to but an interesting, entertaining and thought provoking show nonetheless.

Finished the series. Scary to think how close we may be to it becoming reality.

No kidding. The music and JK's performance make this one of my favorite movies of all time!

Watching "They Shall Not Grow Old"..I know trenches from Khe Sanh but to see what those men endured makes my experiences fade..I liked watching it so much going to grab the cd....Just totally amazing how the colorization is ,,,no comparison but chewing dirt is the same ,,Really one of my kids asked me if WW II happened in color all she ever saw was in B/W

I thought it was good overall - have ran through all 4 series. Some of the fights they get into are hilarious - gory slapstick. There is also a bit of homage to Mr Creosote (Monty Python) in about series 3. (I probably rate "The Boys" a bit higher so far)

I’m still slogging through “Another Life”. It’s full of flaws but I am curious to see how this first season ends so I’ll bother watching the last three remaining episodes.

Been watching the Dick Van Dye show from the 1960's recently. It still works for me even though, or quite frankly because, the episodes have not been colorized.

The 2018 remake of the series Das Boot was aired last night on Canvas TV, watched the first 2 episodes, it's spoken in German with Dutch subtitles so it is a bit of a struggle to follow exactly what is being said but I'm managing.

It has nothing to do with the original Das Boot which featured the real mission 7 of U-96, this new series is following U-612 also a type VIIc Uboat, which in the series is out in the Atlantic chasing a convoy when called to report for a secret mission. Ok in real life U-612 was sunk on a training mission in May 1942 when U-444 struck her, U-612 went down and 2 sailors lost their lives but the rest of the crew escaped. After a few months the crew managed to salvage the boat and take it in for repair in August 1942, U-612 was declared too badly damaged to return to frontline duty and was used as a training ship until she was scuttled in 1945 by her crew. The second officer, Herbert Werner, wrote the book Iron Coffins about his time in the Kreigsmarine

That is the main gripe about it, the story is heading in a good direction and the acting is quite good and well staged, It's time is divided between ship and shore with one of the crew's sister in the interpretation dept. of the local Naval HQ.

It is not as gripping as Das Boot which I think was very good at getting across what it was like at sea, but it's early days yet.

My family and I love Dick Van Dyke and the show. Great writing. Its also amazing to know how much work and how many shows they would produce compared to what shows today output.

I thought it was okay but clearly inspired by the original Wicker Man, which was better.

Anyone here seen Ad Astra? Is it a special effects nightmare without anything else going for it?
