For whatever reason the game won't load now .... was ok before but haven't played in a couple of months.
It starts to load ... screen goes black and the busy icon appears and just as the sound starts it dumps back to the desktop.
Thinking it was a file corruption problem I uninstalled the game then reinstalled and it does the same thing.
I'm not having any issues with any other games including IL2 Sturmovik CLOD...
Suggestions??
EDIT: Neglected to mention I did install DX9 plus not remembering if the CF3 disk had to be in the drive I did this also.

Thanks for the reply...
After I posted I ran system file scan (W10) which found series of corrupted files but couldn't repair them. I tried the online repair which also couldn't repair the files.
Next step is to do W10 upgrade over my existing OS install (which I did once before ... a year or so ago) and once completed I'll report the results.
Hopefully the corrupted files are what's causing the dump to desktop...

GOOD TO GO NOW!
The W10 upgrade over my existing install did the trick ... but not the first attempt.
After the first run of the upgrade the game still crashed to the desktop as the initial splash logo sound started.
Last night as I was staring at the monitor in disappointment it dawned on me all of my USB peripherals - joystick, rudder pedals, trackIR sensor - were still plugged in.
The W10 upgrade only takes about 40 minutes total so I unplugged them leaving only my USB mouse still plugged in and ran it again and this was the problem.
So as a FYI to others who perform the W10 upgrade over the existing W10 install to fix corrupted window files - unplug all USB peripherals first other than your mouse.

Wow, that's a disappointing MS upgrade process! Just to mention, yesterday's M$ periodic update rollout hosed my system - which is how I suspect the problem originally showed up which was after the June W10 system update. It was KB 4515384 yesterday to be specific. After uninstalling it I was able to access the game again. EDIT: I just did a search for 'Microsoft update KB 4515384 problems …. multiple problems being reported including an advisement from M$. And yet W10 updates can't be disabled (easily). This current update included "fixes" for previous issues that not only didn't work it created multiple app access and other issues.

I avoided updating to W10 as though it was a plague! I have decided to stay on W7 Pro. W10 just causes extreme grief with multi-boot - multi architecture environments and their disks.
I keep checking on W10 but so far it's not for me.

Robert: The only way you can really make a W10 PC work without problems is to make it "stand alone", which is what I do.
You use your older Win7 PC for surfing & general work items (connected to the internet), while you use your newer Win10 PC as a game PC that is unconnected to the internet.
This way, your newer PC can just be used as a "game" PC with all it's newer components, and since it is not connected to the internet, you NEVER have to worry that M$ will try to "slip it to you" with an update that messes up your PC.
You just use a KVM switch to connect the two PC's and this allows you to use one mouse, keyboard and monitor (saving desktop space).

Blade_Master: The only problem with using Win7 on a new PC, is that M$ has set it up so only Win10 fully utilizes the more modern CPU chips to their fullest extent.
So if you use Win7 with the last several CPU iterations, you will have a handicapped CPU when playing your games.
