Unfortunately, I tried to D\L and install v1.60 on my win 10 computer, and the first download offered, the basic D/L, was successful but subsequent playing of the sim was a crash after initial selection screen choices were made..
I VERY much wanted this D/L of V1.60 to b successful, and tried a number of times with no joy.
FWIW, I want very much for this sim to work properly on my modern Win 10 computer. It works fine in my win 7 computer, but I am trying to transition away from old computers, for many reasons.
It just so happens that another member here kindly gave me a copy of his personally-modded Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2. It installed perfectly, and flew PERFECTLY from the get-go. I modded it some more, by adding aircraft profiles from MS CFS 1, and it STILL worked perfectly. Of course, that is a very different sim, and apples to oranges, so to speak.
Let this be PERFECTLT be understood by ALL readers. I want all the best for ALL versions of the sim, bar none!
I could sure use some help in installing V1.60 into my win 10 computer. So far, it has been a bust.

RiBob are you running a Ati card,I have the same problem if the game is set to glide, Setting to Direct3D,game runs just fine. Windows 10 64 Ati RX580. After looking into this problem at my end, it was the simple fact I Did Not have a glide program installed on this computer and the ini I used was from a computer with nGlide installed. This gave me the same problem RiBob was having with game crashing on Fly button. After installing nGlide all is well.

Just a suggestion, but you could try putting your own (already functioning in other setups) eaw.ini in the 160 folder before you start up, rather than using the one in the download. Yes, I plan to do this, as it seems to show promise. I will also look into gfx choices within the already installed (and malfunctioning) First V1.60 module before trying anything else. Much obliged for all the suggestions. Will report back later.
