maybe we will see a combat sim version of FX2020 again. That would be worth seeing!

Could it REALLY possibly look like that!? I'll hold off on buying any XP-11 add-ons. If the microsoft sim looks that good and the FM's are well done, It will have to to be uninstalled!

with FX2020 and Microprose we have now new options - maybe we will see a combat sim version of FX2020 again. Just imagine that in a combat sim! That would be a dream come true!!!

With a 2 PETABYTE scenery database, for sure! Definitely (to me) the most justifiable case of "Internet Connection Required" ever... That'll not only exceed Google Earth quality level (since it's specifically designed for a flightsim AND doesn't have to deal with all the other layers), it'll take a TON of the heavy lifting off of the local machine... Only downside is anyone stuck with crappy bandwidth probably won't get the full experience... A barely off topic observation here - I used to max out the hard drive cache with Google Earth. I'd first go to where the "globe" was maybe 25% larger than the screen and cache the whole planet at that level, then repeat just a bit deeper, then go all the way with my own area and certain others. That USED to make things happen faster. But nowadays? It's faster to have NO cache and just stream every time - to say nothing of the drastically lower disk usage... Obviously my internet speed isn't faster than even my somewhat old hard disk, but for the OS to search through 2 gigs of cached data and sort that out? 75 megabit connection wins, and by no small margin. Oh, and it guarantees the latest imagery too...

the more the merrier LM with P3D and XPlane have raised the bar a lot and MS would need quite a lot of effort to match their quality , but I hope that MS does not go the easy way and targets the entertainment side of flight sims with a lightweight game. That already happened - Microsoft Flight. We all (and MS too) know how that turned out... It's been said by the developers "We are making Microsoft Flight Simulator. Emphasis on the word SIMULATOR." I see no reason to doubt the claim. They've got the money, they've got the experience, they've got the FAILED experience of "Flight", and it's product brand that's known even to people who've never used it. MSFS was (and might still be) the biggest selling piece of entertainment software for computers in history... I forget the name, but I knew from the beginning that "hotshot" they put in charge of Flight was completely wrong in his approach. But I had a REAL hard time believing we'd never see another MSFS. In recent years I was starting to believe maybe we wouldn't. It'd had been so long... But then again I guess a pretty massive time interval was necessary both to "rebuild from scratch" and to be able to say "Sorry, the addons you bought 13, 14, or 18 years ago simply ain't going to work with this"...

the bigger question maybe is - what kind of rig you will need to run it ...
I am sure that both P3D and XP11 will release their next version to match MS2020 - so it is more a question of having another flight sim rather than replacing the one you already have. Possibly not much of a rig at all! Having the entire scenery database outsourced from the local machine is a HUGE thing - ever seen any flightsim load that as fast as Google Earth does? (assuming a decent internet connection, and I mean by today's standards, not "2009"...) But even around FSX in 2006 I remember wishing for a "flightsim that streamed the scenery like Google Earth"... I severely hope I'm not wrong, but I think they're going to hit it out of the ballpark with this one...

With these fantabulous graphics, I am scared it will need a very expensive PC and a full terrabyte drive to run it.... If they could match real places (like google earth) with these graphics , I am sold.

both don't have MS unlimited resources and money to match this level of ultra realistic details and lightings...
