To be honest, I think it's probably mostly due to my age but Star Wars just doesn't give me that visceral excitement that it used to give me when I was younger. I'm not saying that the Disney SW films have been terrible but they just don't "do it" for me anymore at an emotional level. I first noticed there was a difference when I found it difficult to remember the names of most of the new characters. Similar situation for me.

The writers of the the new trilogy have already proven they are incapable of good character design or development. Take Snoke. Badass name, badass aura, but dies pathetically without much adieu. What a waste of time.
Writing rule: If you're going to have a character with a single word name, they better be a character of characters. See: Gollum, aka Smeagol for how this is properly done. That, or you allow them to forever remain a mystery, such as Sauron.
Snoke was a joke.
Rian Johnson shat all over Lawrence Kasdan's setup.

I wasn't crazy about the prequels, but I've loved every single movie. Some more than others, SW, ESB, Rogue One...but I'm 48 and I still get excited and will be there on opening day. I've seen them all, including the re-releases at the theater, I'm not stopping now. LOL I'm not watching any trailers, not reading articles. I want it fresh. That's the worst thing is they give away so much before you step into the theater.

Looking forward to this!
The Last Jedi was 3 times as good as all the stupid prequels put together. Fair enough. The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones each had a couple of good SCENES but overall as films they were just downright campy. "Revenge of the Sith" was a big improvement in my opinion.

AotC would be a great movie if it had really been an Obi Wan movie and they cut out the Anakin/Padme scenes. And that friggin short order cook guy. Other than those factors, it was my favorite of the prequels. Still...

Look at me, I am the captain now. Oooooh looks like I struck a nerve! Face it. The Last Jedi was pure sheeeeet. Not as low a grade of sheeet as Rogue One, but pretty close. edit: On second though... I think you were agreeing with me, Crane Hunter. =) That was a reference to Mickey ruining Star Wars, and coming back after the Chinese coma wore off, is clear now.
