"Edward" used to mod for EAW, but moved to SF1 and made some nice terrains.
They included 512x512 BMP tiles.
As 160 can use 512x512 BMP tiles I am making a comparison between one of SagginB's 512x512 and Edward's "Darwin" terrain set.

[Linked Image]
Sorry about the large picture but it was full screen on my 1920x1080 monitor

I want to decide on the best matches for all of the EAW tiles and rename some of Edward's BMPs so that they can be used in a copy of SagginB's folder replacing the originals.
I will not need to change the "TER" files.

If this works, then more of Edward's tiles can be added- to the new set (there are 104 of them). I will just need to copy a "TER" file and re-name it to match the name of the added BMP file.

This I've gotta see. I use SagginB's for most of my screenies and new additional tiles will be good..

That was right back near the beginning of EAW, but it was an excellent conversion at the time. There were even seasonal variations of it. Saggin B's terrain is an excellent HR one, with 512x512 tiles, and an upgrade on it would be eagerly awaited.

Just to point out that these terrains have been converted for UAW160, and can only be used with UAW160 wink
Hopefully more are on the way smile

I found something annoying and strange
In that last set 21 BMP files needed to be rotated to match the EAW rotation.
If I right-clicked on e file, or loaded it in photoviewer I was able to rotate it as required.
However, when I used it in the game there was a CTD during the loading screen frown
This problem did not occur when I loaded a file with MSpaint rotated it and saved it.

wink Jel

This was a big break:
I have discovered the structure of the SF1 tilemap and can produce a UAW160 version

This is a 500x500 Solomons theatre, again with Mike's multiskinned Spits and SF1 256x256 BMP tiles wink

Ok, since that's a pretty similar map to SPAW, how would we go about incorporating it into the SPAW target upgrade project?

Heck, even paranoids have enemies.

Now this one is tricky smile

[Linked Image]

I am making a utility to match SF1 tiles with EAW tiles and change the references in the "eaw32.tm" file generated from the SF1 files from the SF1 tile number to the EAW tile number.
This morning I added the save and load the temporary file routines, which allows me to save what I have done.
The cyan colors indicate things that have been done already wink
It takes patience, as there are 104 tiles in the SF1 set wink

Cracked it- this is the Darwin tile and height map with the converted files made by the new editor smile

Still using ETO targets to test, and the Autumn terrain

For some reason the Darwin BMPs caused problems, otherwise I would not have needed to make this editor.
