HI!

i have been trying to follow a few of the threads regarding Jane's USAF, but i am afraid i have as usual become all to lost and confused as to what i need and what i need to to apply the great work done by Tcklberry.

Would someone here be so kind as to just tell me what the procedure is or where i could find such?

okay tell me if i have this right so far

- install game from discs
-appliy 1.02 patch (i see mention of 1.02F here but i havent come across 1.02F in my google searching)
- then apply Tcklbrry's update to the usaf folder?

someone mentioned that one starts the game with a BAT file and not he game EXE - where is this BAT file?

my system is windows 10 64bit 16gb ram i7 nvidia 860m a intel graphics card

Hi,

1) Install the game
2) Extract the patch to the USAF root folder
3) Execute "wine.cfg" and confirm registry changes
4) Execute "USAFConfig.exe"
5) Execute "USAF.exe"
6) Nice flying

oh so i need to also install the 1.02 patch before applying your fix?

The patch 1.02f is included in the patch. It is not necessary.

You can set also AF 16x and AA 4x for "USAF.exe" via your nvidia/amd manager.

I didn't test the path on an amd gpu, so I don't know whether the patch is working properly on an amd gpu.

Okay i will need some further help on this - i set the config at first to my nvidia 2gb 860m card and the game didnt start, so instead i set it to teh Directdraw HAL and it started but the screen was black, though music and sounds were playing,

lasting i set the config instead to my intel video card, and the problem then is that the game window comes up but it is almost entirely off the screen and i can move it to make it in the centre

what do i do? do ineed to run any compatibility settngs? please help

okay i set the compatibility to windows 7 and now the menus are visible and working, but when i go to fly, the screen is just all black - all the sounds are there, but there are no visuals


... okay update - i have compat set to windows 7 and then switched my config to the nvidia card again and put all the graphcis settings on highest "extra" setting and now everything is working fine!

my only query would be, is there any way i can tweak the settings for keyboard - movement has a horrible rubber band feel to it, - i cant do any kind of smooth movements with teh keyboard - unlike say in Fighter Anthology, is ther any way i can improve the smoothness of the keyboard controls so that it flies like in Fighters Anthology?
