Saw this on the news this morning.
The Hate Factor for these scooters is growing daily. People toss'em anywhere, ride down sidewalks (a no-no) and fail to observe any traffic rules.
But THIS, this is a first! Clearly 'Bro' here is going for a Darwin Award....

Just yesterday morning I am rolling on the big V-Twin down the HOV lane, and the traffic for main lanes (5) is all to my left.
That traffic is coming to a stop, so *I* slow down in the HOV lane because that is when they come through the plastic pipe 'barricade' into the HOV....
All of a sudden, some Redneck comes RUNNING ON FOOT through the traffic, right into my lane, to get a "donut tire" that is in the HOV lane!
I braked hard, and rode past him with my jaw on my chest. Really, is a crap tire worth dying for on the Interstate? (watch the video and you can see the traffic level I am talking about)

In my defense, I was left unsupervised...

Maybe that was Florida Man who was on that scooter? He just happened to be on vacation.

And I thought Texans liked things big. Must be a tourist.

Many interstates have minimum speed limits. I'm pretty sure those things can't hit 40 mph.

The thing is although there getting very popular there 100% illegal to use either on the road or the pavement (sidewalk) here.

Standard reply these days; "It's ok for me though, right?"

Electric scooters have just been legalised in Germany for use on roads and bike paths. We've just returned from three days in Berlin where they were ubiquitous. I have to say they didn't seem to be causing any more of a problem than the large number of cycles in the areas we were in (the centre). It helps in Berlin that the pavements (sidewalks) and roads are generally very wide with plenty of room for cycle lanes on the roads and on the pavements. However they certainly have great potential to cause trouble and injury if misused.
