hey Andy

Do you happen to know the technique to avoid
clever thrust vectoring missiles as in TAW and flanker 2 ? , I can avoid your usual mach 3 , 9g missiles like archers easy with the break when its dead close method , I keep getting killed in LAN dog fights with AIM9X (which i assume is a thrust vectoring missile due to its super high PK even at very far offbore sight and bad target solution etc) , its getting embarassing how many times i die to IR missiles but i've tried avoiding them at different ranges and they still get me , only the hitting the deck works but to go low is bad , due to lower energy state, any ideas?

I´ve been in sum "BIG" online missle brawls and one of the best missle avoidance techniques is to stay down and close to the ground..There, you´re compounding the opponent(s) radar signal as well as his/their visual tally with ground clutter.
Put those buggers on your beam and zig zig into them at the last moment. Padlock them. Jam the opponent. Drop chaf and flares like crazy. Don´t forget to jink as well Kemosabe nd between missles, pop up and release yar own salvo..

Either that or blast past the whole thang with an SR 71 Blackbird at 100000 ft altitude.

Sorry...I don't have an answer!

Sim AI is the issue here...if it is programmed to have a high Pk regardless of target maneuvers or ECM, then that's the name of that game...you're dead!

each game is different. I don't have the AI code for TAW or F2, so I cannot say what the programming values are. Your response to these missiles is OK...proper high G end game maneuvers, combined with appropriate ECM.

Take the fight low...it shortens the missile's envelope and improves your thrust response. Try to take advantage of any terrain that is available. Keep your speed up, give the missile a 90 degree corner to make, and make your end game maneuvering a three dimensional break turn.

Good luck

Andy

Personally i wait 'til the missile get within 1NM range and hard turn 45º left or right while releasing countermeasures. Pitching the noose down 10 or 15º while doing this also helps, IMO.

When discussing evasive manouveres we must be specifc about the sim we fly.
In falcon 4 (eFalcon 1.10) I think its very hard to outmanouvere a AA12. The only chance is to pump early enough and outrun the missile/do a high g turn when the energy of the missile is very low. AA11 almost sure dead

Andy do you have some insight about the chances to dodge a moden misslie like the Python or AA-11 or the AMRAAM, AA-12 in real life when they are employed properly?

*thinks a bit* hold on Andy didn't you write the ACM / A2A part of the F-22 strategy guide that you wasn't paid for?

Yes, that's true...but my section was pretty much offense oriented with a fair amount of traditional BFM thrown in for good measure.
