Not only isn't it necessary, it is wrong. Look at any basic photography book in the section about composition (portraits being an exception).

I meant centered on the page folks.

The only composition in this is a single turtle. The way I tipsily did it, it will be hard to frame.

My school, now former school as I got my AA and am moving to an online only plan at St Petersburg College, well I guess they had a shortage of artwork and used one of my pieces for the cover of the Arts and Literature magazine for my last semester there.

Inspired by a young friend of mine, let's just say she is a complex individual, I call it "Faces in the Crowd". My first "psych-landscape". winkngrin

[Linked Image]

I wasn't involved with the magazine for the last two semesters at that school. I wasn't even going to attend the reveal party but a prof I like e-mailed me and said "I had a couple of pieces in the mag, so I should show up."

I was very happily surprised when I walked in the door and saw all those mags lined up with my work on the cover.

Nice way to exit that school. Very cool to see the surprised kids who didn't know me with the "You did that?" looks.

Still painting and having fun.

That is really cool. I hope you got several of them so you can share with friends.

What an honor, Nixer. Excellent work on that piece.

I'm no art critic but I have seen lots of art collections in two recent trips to NYC and this just looks to me like it would fit right in. Congrats on having a piece chosen for a magazine cover.

Outstanding!

That's a work of art! Love how you have to peel thru the colors to find her face.

ps sorry man, but you screwed up the signature. That's not how you spell Nixer...

beautiful work! I know nothing about painting, but first thing that popped into my small brain was some of the works of the British artist Turner (and I only know Turner from the excellent film by Mike Leigh that came out in 2014 or 2015).
