If I am out and about running errands or shopping, I will hit the McD's drive through for a large size black coffee, which is only $1.50 in my area. It's generally fresh and hot, so it beats just about any other fast food or convenience store imitation motor oil available. Otherwise, I can't remember the last time I had any of their food--maybe a breakfast sandwich, when I took a long road trip out of town last November. It was not very good, so I'll be reluctant to do it again.

Cheers

Coffee lol - I used to work at a 7-11 store 30 years ago. We had this deal if you brought your own cup it was 50 cents. Then people started bringing containers in as big or bigger than a "Double Gulp", had to crack down on that...

But ya know what? I kept that coffee fresh (well, demand sort of mandated that!), kept all the creamers on ice, I've never been a coffee drinker, but at age 18 I made #%&*$# sure that coffee rocked...

I had 8 "burners" for the pots - most of it was straight coffee, then a bit of it was decaf and "girl coffee"...

That #%&*$# coffee was probably 90% of the reason the morning customers came in there...

Even I have to admit it smelled pretty good - and I don't drink that stuff!

What the hell happened to customer service in general?

My wife brought home some bacon cheese fries from mcdoonalds the other day. Supposedly they have a meals from around the world menu going or something. Anyways, case in point, they were delicious.

McDonald's has great coffee.
They were the worst at one time, but they really stepped up their game a few years ago. I'll take it over Tim Horton's any day.

I have to admit I don't get the fascination with In-N-Out. They're not bad, and certainly better than McDonald's, but I don't think they deserve all the praise they get. And I don't really like their fries.

To me, for the most part, a hamburger is a hamburger, and while they can be seasoned up a little to taste a little better, they mostly differ by how they're cooked and what's on them. Habit is better than In-N-Out to me, and their fries are better. Some of the fancy burgers from Jack-In-The-Box taste really good, but one of those burgers is about 1000 calories with about a week's worth of fat, so I don't eat them very often.

+1 for The Habit Burger - they have by far the best "diner style" burger I've ever seen. And in terms of bang for the buck they might be the best of ANY burgers out there...

Here in Ontario Canada, our big chain options are McDonald's, A&W, Burger King, Harvey's, Dairy Queen and Wendy's.
I have no problem with any of them really. Burger King would be my favorite burger. McDonald's has always had the best fries imo, only when hot of course.

I really liked Harvey's when I lived in Quebec, their fries and topping for the burger, my fave was lots of hot peppers please. Apparently the meat wasn't even meat or just a small percentage was meat, still a great hamburger

Luckily...where I live..

I have the option of trading Bit Coins to REAL UFO pilots who invented McDonald's in the first place. abducted

Notice how I smoothly, following Mad Max's lead, am combining our two most current informative threads

Ray Kroc was an abductee who horn-swaggled the business from the McDonald's folks for the aliens. yep

We get the original cheeseburgers made from aged mutilated cows, smothered in a cheese-like substance with military surplus ketchup, mustard, and a slice of pickle like stuff.

All on a ZERO health benefit bun of course.

It's what we deserve!

Actually, I like their coffee and plain sausage and biscuit.

On a road trip, QP w/ cheese combo is survival food... I haven't gone into convulsions while driving after consuming it...also kinda like military rations, it seems to constipate you.

BTW, if you want a genuine Alien prepared cheeseburger, PM me and I'll make sure you get an address to send your Bit Coins to.

That reminds me of a coworker several years back. With only 30 minutes for lunch he would always drive to Burger King for his sandwich and then across the street to McDonald's for his fries.

Great furore and discourse going on in my nearest city (Worcester) as MacD plans to open yet another branch in a defunct pub, illustrating the decline of the British traditional watering hole.
The 'Faithful City'seems to be awash with MacD, KFC Coffee multiples and low hygiene rated chicken and kebab outlets. No Burger King though!

Yeah,I read that article a while back. Luckily I'd never used any of the dives that got a mention. How many Mc D's do we have now?

Maybe it is the old taste buds and faulty memory but the burgers back in the day tasted much better than they do today. It also could be the car-hops that distracted one from the burger.

A&W had the best drinks...root beer floats and real milk shakes with whipped cream topped with a cherry.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

It's not old taste buds. Many of the fast food places today don't even use real beef but something called "meat product". Mass production also means that the quality invariably goes down.

I'd be curious to know more in depth about the causes behind this. Maybe alcohol consumption in the UK overall is declining?

Yes know that PM but the taste buds do loose their ability to taste with age.
