So just in the last couple of days whenever I went to run a flight in WOFF UE, my screen would just go white and the Windows 7 mouse icon would just spin away. This just started out of the blue and I didn't make any changes or installs to my Windows 7 64-bit computer (i7-920 at 4 Ghz with GTX 970). Then I noticed that rundll32.exe was showing up in Task Manager exactly after I clicked for CFS3 to start after using the Mission Editor. And this executable was using a lot of processor power; something like 30-40% of the CPU and eventually after a while the CPU pegged at 100%. So I killed that and I got bounced back to my desktop. This happened every time CFS3 was trying to start. I did a malware scan for any rundll32.exe hits and got nothing so it's not malware or a virus. After some research, I finally found that it's Microsoft's Games Explorer causing rundll32.exe (from the Windows\SysWOW64 folder) to run every time CFS3 was starting up. This website ( Ubeogeh's thing: Resolve rundll32.exe) gave me the solution. I renamed the file gameux.dll (Game Explorer) in the SYSWOW64 folder and now CFS3 loads quickly and I even think the game plays smoother on my computer the couple of times I've flown since I made that change. It seems even TrackIR is smoother, but I need to do more flying to prove that it is. This is just a tip in case you see rundll32.exe running while trying to start a flight since CFS3 is a Microsoft product and gameux.dll is Microsoft 's Games Explorer executable. Hopefully someone will find it useful.

Wow brilliant i was having this issue not on WOFF but on WOTR (mad how one works and one didnt). Downloaded the .Bat file from your link to Ubeogeh,s thing.. ,ive virus checked it using Kaspersky and Malware checked it with IO Malware fighter and its all clean. Ive also noticed the game starts quicker, havent checked enough regarding "smoother" yet but wanted to say thank you for this

@WallysWorld I have experienced the same WOFF crashes during first run. That started since WOFF update to 4.23. Because my OS Windows 7 is not updated, that must be difinitely some code change in WOFF.exe causing this rundll32.exe (re)activation. Great you found the fix . Thank you.

one thing I notice
when I fire up the PC, go to Task manager, and find rundll.exe (system32) already running. No idea how to prevent this, but can turn it off in task manager. And bobs your uncle, everything loads faster.
ps..I had changed the name of "gameux" to "gameux.old" in (system32)

WW, thank you very much for this tip. I've had to start WOFF twice to get it to run since before UE and this tip seems to have solved the problem. Good show!

Also ChiefWH found with no AV installed this error did not occur, but yet nothing in the AV log regarding this. When he installed the AV it occurred. So it's more likely something has changed in some AV processes or signatures - many share signatures or detections and so on so could be related to that - all very odd anyway.
Yes, good point. If that hang ups happen in WOFF as well as in WOTR, then the AV could be the common trigger. Not the code change to WOFF/WOTR, as I wrongly assumed.

another note after some reading as to why rundll starts etc, I wondered if my old Logitech stick was causing rundll to start up. I hade the software for the stick in autostart mode. Then I stopped that using CCleaner (autostart setting) Reboot PC, open task-manager...... and no rundll32.exe had started. Run WOFF in QC, look back at task-manager and still no rundll32 running.
make mistakes and learn from them

I renamed rundll32.exe in SysWOW64 as suggested (running Win 7 Professional) but got a "Game terminated prematurely" error as soon as it went to the brown loading screen. Renamed rundll32.exe?? You should rename file gameux.dll in SysWOW64.
