There is no generation of Supra that I wouldn’t mind owning. They always pull it off. The price tag however...

It's basically a BMW Z4, including the interior.

The Supra in between the two was better looking as well, imho:

IMO, the Japanese have largely lost their mojo when it comes to car making.

I owned a 1977 and 1981 Toyota Celica GT. For me, The Celica and the Supra lost it's way by the 1990's.

I thought the '82 Celica Supra was nice looking too:

Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
My son's friend runs an ex-UK Supra here in Belgium, meaning it is right hand drive, it's well sorted and goes like stink. My son and that friend also have rebuilt early 90s BMW 325 which are classified as Old Timers so they get tax breaks etc. on running them.

Anyway 2 weeks ago my son his friend and girl friends were at a nightclub with the Supra and while the rest of them had a drink or two my son's friend remained BOB (it was a campaign to stop drinking and driving, from that the designated driver gets called Bob) leaving the nightclub they got a few hundred meters along the road and they get pulled into a traffic control.

When they stop, the police officer knocks on the window and the girlfriend winds down the window, from the moment they stopped my son, who is in the back, started filming with his mobile. The police officer shoves a breathalyser in to the face of the girlfriend and asks her to blow, she does as she is told, and, as she has had a good drink the breathalyser goes off, "Right" says the police officer "pull over there, we have some paperwork to do." "But I'm not the driver officer" says the lass, then the police man bends down and looks in the car and starts laughing.
The rest in the car were in stitches all through the whole thing, all papers etc. were all in order.

Darn! he has pulled the video off of his facebook page.

I am generally a traditionalist and rather old fashioned, but I prefer the 2020 Supra.

Ok, so it's basically a re-badged BMW with noticeably less power than the car it's based on (even though it has the same engine), lots of faux air scoopery, a Star Trek dash and entertainment system and an auto-tranny? Oh boy. rolleyes

Having watched that video, I am *really* appreciating just how old-school they're keeping the Miata...

I still want an RF, but I hate that screen ruining the interior.

Ah crap! That screen looks so tacked-on and tacky that I just assumed it did this... frown

Come on, Mazda! Tuck it away, dosen't even have to me motorized, I can fold it in manually!

Yeah, that's *very* disappointing. I swear I read somewhere that it's retractable, though.

The raised LCD display is very common these days, and I'm not sure why. I think that's how it looks in the BMW as well. Also, rumor is that it's power has been understated, and that it actually puts out more power than what they say.

As for old school, I have the digital dash in my Mustang, and I love it, so I guess I'm OK with something not being old school smile

Nope, it just sticks up there! That car would be perfect with no display like that. Put a narrow strip in there below the center vent instead of a full screen. Basic info, no gps. I’d love how clean it would look, less function would be a small sacrifice. It’s a Miata, “less is more”.

I was used to it. I had many family members that worked for Ford. Many of my parents neighbors were not happy with me either. I have owned Celica's, Tacoma's, Carolla's, etc.. I owned a few Honda's too. I actually had fun with it, especially when some people would get pretty upset about it.

I did a few contract jobs for Ford. I had to go to the Rouge Plant and Woodhaven Stamping plant. I heard stories of what happened to Japenese cars there. One guy actually had his car doors welded shut in the parking lot. I bought a Ford Fiesta for $500 and drove that when I had to go to the plants. Actually, that little thing was a blast to drive.
