What We Do In The Shadows (the TV series). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7908628/

If you enjoyed the mockumentary 2014 film then this is for you. I'm finding it funnier than the film to be honest but then I'm a fan of Matt Berry.

I've just watched ep 7 which has a smorgasbord of guest stars.

I saw "Tau" last night. Decent sci-fi film. Enjoyed it.

I recently watched a movie that popped up on Amazon called "The Vanishing" with Gerard Butler based on a true story about lighthouse keepers off the coast of Scotland and a mystery surrounding their disappearance. I haven't seen what I would consider a decent, quality movie in a long while and this was one. The lack of review score is way off in my opinion. I have not watched a movie in a long time that actually built trepidation and uneasiness like this movie does and its all done simply with fine acting, human conflict and subtle music. They also have some well done ambiguous, suggestive writing that makes you wonder what could have caused this sequence of unfortunate events for example but I don't want to spoil anything for those who may want to watch it. Plus its a beautifully shot film apparently in the historical or similar location at a lighthouse on an island off the coast of Scotland. Its a good moody, unsettling piece of drama. Its not a happy movie but I felt that it was a well written and produced, eerie story with some truly excellent acting all around. I had to turn subtitles on during the first part as some of the Scottish accents were real thick.

I've got the Vanishing on my "to watch list" but have been more in the mood for comedy lately.

In that vein, I have just finished binge watching all 6 seasons of the old TV sitcom--"3rd Rock from the Sun". It's hard to believe that It ran from 1996 to 2001 and holds up remarkably well to be that old. I remember maybe watching most of one season back then, but my company got sold and my new bride and I had to pick up and move to another state to keep my job. I sort of stopped watching any regular programming for several months and I guess I lost track of the series. Then around 1999 or 2000, I got into flight sims and pretty much stopped watching any TV.

Anyway, John Lithgow and the rest of the talented cast on that show were so adept with perfect comedic timing. Just the perfect blend of far out, off the wall humor, slapstick comedy, and subtle references to all kind of cultural events--books, music, movies, history, etc along with the occasional surprise guest like John Cleese, William Shatner, or Elvis Costello--to name a few. I don't remember a single episode that wasn't entertaining--some were uncomfortable at times, but still entertaining.

Cheers

I watched 'The Vanishing' last night. Very good film in my opinion.

Just finished 'F is for Family' season 3. I like adult cartoons. Written by and starring Bill Burr.

I watched “The Duellists” again last night which is Ridley Scott’s debut feature film.

The entire cast was brilliant.

When I first say this back in 1977 or '78 I was so struck how beautiful John Carradine was in his tight breeches, Shako and long plaits, for a moment I doubted my sexuality, especially as I was on a Window Dresser's course at the time!
Then luckily I copped off with a bird on the course and all such doubts were allayed smile

As a fencer, I deemed that the duelling was the most authentic I've viewed, though some of the weapons were a bit odd or out of period.

I recently watched the Netflix series Good Omens. I enjoyed it a lot. If you like whimsical Gaiman/Pratchett type stories you should enjoy it. Michael Sheen and David Tenant are excellent in their roles as angel & demon respectively.

*edit
Amazon not Netflix.

Wonderful post BD-123!

I was struck by the very young Cristina Raines and also Diana Quick. What beauties they were.

If we're going to talk about beauties, I'm going to propose Jenny Agutter in the 1976 movie Man In The Iron Mask.

I just looked at some photos of her from that film and you are most certainly correct. Wow!

I also noticed that there have been three film adaptations of the “Man in the Iron Mask” story.

A weird thing about Jenny Agutter - she really only displays her true beauty when in motion. I always found stills of her never come close. She was also in An American Werewolf In London, you could check out that movie for a good example of her at her greatest powers smile

American Werewolf is a great, great fun film.

Look for a very young Rik Mayall in the opening pub scene.

Anyway, what about Agutter in "Logan's Run"?

What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen
