Hello gents',

Been tweaking the SweetFX settings file over the last few days (from the Bucksnort JSGME SweetFX mod) for my WOFFue install, and thought I'd post a few screenies here to refresh the thread - framerates are holding up well even with SweetFX enabled and I'm getting better sharpness and greener grass. Might zip up the tweak and post it over on the CombatAce downloads section for those interested in loading greener pastures in WOFFue. (Note to those running AMD cards - turn off all terrain and cloud shadows if using SweetFX...this gets rid of flickering. It's fine to leave aircraft shadows on however. The default AnKor shaders are a bit more friendly towards cloud/terrain shadows on AMD cards than SweetFX, but I'd rather sacrifice some shadows for the greater crispness that the SweetFX mod gives me.)

Happy flying,
Von S smile2

Nice photos gentlemen smile

I think the thing with external enhancers (SweetFx, Reshade, etc) is that adjustments are very subjective. What I like about Reshade is being able to make adjustments and tweaks in-game on the fly - and seeing immediately their impact. Gosh though, it can be quite absorbing and hard to let go though, LOL. Spent hours tweaking both IL2-1946 and WOFF UE with Reshade. Anyway, here is a shot or two of my attempt to get quite realistic color, lighting, and effects using Reshade - but again, it is all a matter of individual perception. Hope they show up as I never have uploaded in here before...

Thanks for sharing your great screenshots guys. smile

Very nice pics. there Redwolf, and subtle lighting and shadow effects. I tried getting ReShade to run but it gives me CTDs (specifically the CFS3.exe crashes) in WOFFue, so I went with the JSGME-friendly version of SweetFX instead. The CTDs may be specific in my case since I'm in BootCamp on a Mac Pro (2013), with the AMD Fire Pro card (two of them, crossfired) - so those not running an AMD card may have more luck with ReShade. Anyway, those interested in loading the SweetFX tweaks will be able to find a link to the package near the bottom of my long post under the "WOFFue on a Mac" thread - the link should be up in a day or two once CombatAce approves the file. (A couple of "before" and "after" pics with SweetFX included below, with fall colors this time.)

Happy flying,

Vons, Love your FM tweaks on many of the planes, but a bit much saturation in your Sweet Fx settings for me. Each to his own. It is funny but after the last update Sweet Fx gives me a CTD and I had to remove it.
Here are some pics from a recent night mission. I also posted some in the main WOFF UE screenshots thread in the Screenshots & Video thread .

Hello Blade, glad you're enjoying the FM tweaks. In terms of SweetFX, I'm still running ver. 4.18 of WOFFue (once I get patched up to 4.23 I will report back if there are any problems with SweetFX). ReShade I never could get running with WOFFue.

Been testing my SweetFX settings further and while they still have the green pasture saturated look, for those interested, subtle changes can be included if you modify the numbers under "Bloom Settings" in the fx settings file to read, for example, as:

#define BloomThreshold 36.00
#define BloomPower 2.546
#define BloomWidth 0.0342

Those values decrease bloom effects a bit more (by about 10 or 15%) than in the settings file included with my current tweaks package.

Also possible is to disable bloom effects entirely by entering 0 instead of 1 for the "#define USE_BLOOM" entry under "Choose effects" in the settings file.

Representative pics below of more subtle bloom (first two pics), and no bloom (last two pics). Obviously results will vary from setup to setup and monitor to monitor - as always, tweak to taste.

My slightly saturated tweaks are largely an experiment to get greener grass in WOFFue and extra sharpness/detail - I can now spot those sneaky fences from half a mile away. biggrin

Happy flying,
Von S smile2

That is looking better, VonS

I am in the opposite situation - Sweetfx once upon a time worked for me, but hasn't for a long while and it borks my game install. But now that I have Reshade going, there is no going back anyway (I like it a lot better). I use a modified/tweaked HDR setting with it instead of bloom. Don't remember if HDR was available with Sweetfx.

Happy Hunting all. smile

v4.18 works but the shaders in patch v4.22+ have been altered, so if you change then its bye bye sweetFX.
I'm using Reshade too. Its fine. Just got to figure out the color adjustments for me.

Lovely pics gents' - been tinkering further with my WOFFue install (ver. 4.18) in BootCamp on the Mac Pro and pleased to report that cloud density and cloud shadow values in the relevant d3d8 ini files can be turned on - flickering is caused only if terrain shadows are set to 1 (or higher) with SweetFX enabled, and if set to 2 (or higher) with the standard AnKor shaders in place. I therefore recommend if running WOFFue on a Mac with an AMD card or two, to set terrain shadows to 0, but toggle cloud density and scale to taste (I run mine at a value of 3 and haven't noticed any major hits on frame rates; the other wonderful thing about enabling cloud density and cloud shadows is that ground shadows are then present for aircraft, not only shadows on the aircraft itself). Also been tweaking my settings file further for SweetFX to give only about 10% bloom, with values for the bloom section of:

#define BloomThreshold 29.00
#define BloomPower 2.846
#define BloomWidth 0.0382

Representative pics below, of scattered and cloudier weather. By the way, the Se5 (early a variant?) is lovely to fly - I need to explore the type further, haven't had much stick time in it until now.

Happy flyng all,
Von S smile2

Cheers Blade..even after all the time I've spent on OBD sims,I still get "wowed" by some of the incredible sights I see not just from my own experiences but from vids and shots that others post.

Really nice pics, Adger.

Had to land on the field at Carignon, Verdun region, after losing my flight mates (again). Interesting airfield layout. Very tricky landing spot!

Great pics gents' - keep em' coming. Pleased to report that I've simplified the SweetFX tweaks of the Bucksnort FX mod by uploading a "subtle bloom" and "no bloom" settings file, for convenience (the link can be found by navigating to the bottom of my long post under the WOFFue on a Mac thread). Should work well for those running WOFFue specifically on a Mac, and with AMD cards - also on Windows rigs with AMD. Eventually I will test with the ver. 4.23 patch of WOFFue to see if SweetFX runs well on it too (might have to fiddle with the settings files and/or d3d8 ini files, since ReShade is a no-go on my rig). Will post relevant results here once I set up a newer ver. of WOFFue (although I have to admit that I like the "deadly trees and fences" ver. 4.18 - very scary if your engine conks out in the middle of nowhere yep). Obligatory screenies below with the "subtle bloom" settings file in place.

Happy flying,
Von S smile2
