Hello everyone,

I've been out of the sim game for a while, but there was a time when I was an avid flyer and developer on old IL-2.

What I've noticed since coming back to iconless multiplayer, is that scouring the skies for tiny planes is really tiring for my eyes. I played a couple of hours yesterday, and can still feel the fatigue today.
Do we all deal with this (with age)?
Any tips for making things easier?
Fly less? That seems counter-productive! :P

I loaded up a few easy icon-on quick missions and they instantly felt easier on the eyes.

Thanks,

Well, I don't know how old you get, but past 50 most people tend to suffer modification in their viewing abilities. There are eye glasses specially adapted to get less tired when watching a screen for long.

Online you can also adapt your flying style, ie fly very, very low so you can look for planes above you, or much higher than contrails altitude in order to have potential ennemy planes have contrails too. Flying above water helps watch down too. Finally, that's ugly but I remember from when il2 was still seen as a competitive game, that some used very low resolutions in order to spot planes easier. But well, that's really ugly. You can also limit antialiasing and aniso, again ugly but efficient.

Less efficient but can help a bit, force "sharpen" or "luma sharpen" on either nvidia control panel, or reshade if you use it. At least it doesn't make the game ugly if not abusing.

I'm sorry to say that it's not better with other sims I play atm.

I second rollnloop: Go see an eye doctor. I was having trouble with Sim flying as well. I went to the eye doc and now I have a set of computer glasses. It sucks, as I am in my mid 40s, but my eyes have always been trouble.
