My fear of heights has gotten worse over the years, possibly much more so since I had my kids. Was at the Grand Canyon in 2017 and really could not get close to the edge. My imagination is just too vivid. Thought I would walk partway down Bright Angel Trail like all the other tourists but noped out .

Text from a letter to the editor I read in the Manchester (NH) Union-Leader a couple years ago. The page no longer exists or I’d provide the link as proof, because it sounds like a joke. To the Editor: My husband and I were hiking the Mount Jackson trail on May 27 with my son and family. We are veteran backpackers with 40 years of hiking experience. The trails in the White Mountains are a disgrace.
You have to negotiate boulders and, basically, hike rocky stream beds to gain the most meager vistas and distance. These trails are dangerous and limit safe use to only athletes. All hiking trails anywhere have potential hazards for the unprepared. But the Mount Jackson trail raises those hazards to unacceptable levels. The boulders should be reduced to proper steps and the last section should have hand holds for safety. Trail maintenance should be a state priority so that more residents of New Hampshire can enjoy the beautiful mountains without risking serious injury.
She’s right about the boulders and rocks, here’s a trip report (with pics) I wrote last year. This trail was more rocky than most, but very few trails are smooth up here. Glen Boulder Trail, 16 June 2018. She should stay out of the woods if she expects safety and comfort. I'd rather the forests and mountains left wild and untamed to experience their tranquility and beauty, without all the crowds and garbage that comes in the name of "convenience."

yet another death at the Grand Canyon... Grand Canyon Death GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — Another visitor to Grand Canyon National Park has died after falling over the edge of the South Rim, authorities said Tuesday.
A 70-year-old woman fell about 200 feet (61 meters) over the rim, the second over-the-edge death this month within the confines of the park, according to Grand Canyon officials.
The woman had been walking about 200 to 300 feet (61 to 91 meters) off a trail along the South Rim about a mile (1.6 kilometers) east of Mather Point. Park rangers got a call just after 1 p.m. that she needed help west of a popular overlook called Pipe Creek Vista.
"She fell before we could undertake a rescue," said Grand Canyon spokesman John Quinley, adding that the circumstances of the call for help were unclear.

You know what this means right? Ban all National Parks which have a potential for people getting killed!!!
That approach seems to be trendy these days.... my fear is they'll put up railings all along the scenic areas which will just kill the view.

"boatloads"? You do know Arizona is landlocked, right? And I think the "lemmings" comparison in a thread about people falling from cliffs to their deaths is either epically ironic or epically insensitive. I'm going with ironic, but I like Deadpool.

Anyone been on this? It only juts out 70 ft and is 4000 ft above the canyon floor. I would gladly do that if not for the ridiculous price (around $75.00 per person) $50.00 per person to shuttle you to the walkway and $25.00 to go on the walkway. Also you are not allowed to bring your own camera out there. We will be going to the South rim.

Suckers born every day Lucky.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Suckers born every day Lucky. Without suckers some businesses like Starbucks and Nieman Marcus would go under!
