Who else is watching the madness that is the 2019 NHL Playoffs ?
Tampa Bay only loses 16 of 82 games all season. They did not lose 3 in a row all year. They get swept by Columbus, who had to fight tooth and nail to make the playoffs
Calgary, the number 1 seed in the West is down 3 games to 1 to Colorado, who most wrote off at Christmas.
Islanders sweep the Penguins, Islanders have been crazy good all year.
Leafs are stressing the crap out of me against the Bruins AGAIN.

I was shocked to see the Rays and Pens already ousted from the playoffs. can't imagine anyone saw that happening. I try to watch the Bruin's since they're my local team, but they are so up and down and Rask usually ends up killing them by letting in soft goals I just can't bring myself to wasting 2-3 hrs watching them anymore.

I love watching a number 8 seed (wild card 2) knock out a number one seed in the first round of the playoffs. The Islanders have look like a team that could go deep all year. Tampa Bay Lightning looked like they were sleep walking. The Vegas vs San Jose series has been great. The late come back of St. Louis last night was insane. Colorado is skating rings around Calgary (Tkachuk is choking on his mouth guard now).Don't look now, but Carolina is challenging the Caps. The Leafs Bruins series is a strange one. Both teams look bipolar. You never know what team will show up each night. I wish Kadri would have kept his wits about him and not got himself suspended. But the best part so far for me, was watching the Pens go down so quickly. I love it. The Sidney Crosby love fest by NBC Sports may be finally coming to an end.

Who are the Rays?

I was pulling for Calgary. Great Reggie Lemelin connection there, Calgary to Boston, and Reg was a fan favorite.

As a Boston native, it's hard to do but I am a hockey fan first, NHL fan close second and Bruins fan an even closer third. I can tell you about Teeder Kennedy, or Jack Darragh, etc.

Here's the thing about Rask. yes he can be streaky and he can lose focus. But when your team allows the other team to outshoot your team by 12 shots each period...then the art of Defense as a Team activity and goals-against as a team stat come into focus. Bs are simply getting weaknesses in defense exposed. Chara can only do so much. McAvoy is still having some growing pains. Cassidy has some luxury on the offensive side but defense is a concern if you ask me, and what's Butch gonna do? Only so many guys on the blueline.

D and goaltending, hand and hand, and the Bs must get stingy or lose. Simple as that. Rask looked really really good at times in game 4. He let in a couple, but some pucks had eyes and one he had no chance on, screen high and low, forget it.

Tampa's baseball team. TG got a bit mixed up.

Loved seeing the Lightning swept. Maybe that's what happens when you clinch so early and aren't playing meaningful games for a month. Maybe some overconfidence, and there's no accounting for Bob.

And of course the hated Pens. But my team didn't even make it so I have no room to talk.

One thing I did want to mention and never got around to it was Buffalo's historic collapse. There was a thread here in November or thereabouts when Buffalo had the best record in the league. They stunk the rest of the way. It's mind boggling that team can be that good for two months, and then lousy for the rest of the season. It's interesting to me that it can go like that. Sports yeah, but what's the real story?

I'm following the playoffs, but not watching.

Well it is sure a happy day here in the "D". The much anticipated announcement of Stevie Yzerman as the new GM. Hopefully the first thing he will do is fire Ken Holland and then fire coach Jeff Blashill. . The Red Wings have become nothing more than "a player development camp" for bad draft choices. We will take Phil Housley for sure. I am still amazed that the Sabres have not seen any success in he last few years.

Buffalo's hot streak was a bit of a smoke and mirror show. They were winning a lot of 1 goals games.
It's great for hockey to have Steve Yzerman back in Detroit.

I work with a girl who was a classmate of Eichel. He's a local boy.

She said he's a real horse's ass, lol

Watch out for the Sens next year as it is their year. winkngrin

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Dude, even I feel bad for Sens fans. Horrible ownership. Dodged a bullet at the draft lottery though.

Holy crap what a stressful game. Leafs up 3 game to 2 against Boston. I'm hoping they finish them off Sunday at home. Games 7's in Boston are not friendly to Toronto.

You know the Bruins fan base is going to be soar about that goal that was allowed. The call could have gone either way. I am glad the league is deciding to let the "ticky tac" contact slide a little on those calls. They just need to be consistent on them now. You are right, Leafs better win game 6 in Toronto.

I am watching Calgary flounder right now. Could the top seed in the West be going down too? The two top seeds out so quickly is crazy.

Columbus Blue Jackets sweep Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-0
Toronto Maple Leafs lead Boston Bruins, 3-2
New York Islanders sweep Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-0
Washington Capitals tied with Carolina Hurricanes, 2-2
Colorado Avalanche beat Calgary Flames, 4-1
Vegas Golden Knights lead San Jose Sharks, 3-2
Nashville Predators tied with Dallas Stars, 2-2
St. Louis Blues lead Winnipeg Jets, 3-2

The top 2 teams gone eek and Winnipeg and SJ, on the edge of elimination.

Am sure glad not a Leafs fan...so close. Grudgingly will have to cheer for them, gives me the creeps, as they are the only Canadian team left.

Yes WT Sens owner is a major problem, be sure.

Sure Bruins fans will be sore about the allowed goal. But the contact was minimal. Deemed not enough to overturn. Bruins did not deserve to win that game. Toronto carried the play the whole game. Bruins were given 2 phantom PP's, their only goal, which was offside, was deemed onside. The right team won that game. ( yes I know, I am a huge Leaf fan, but I honestly believe this)

Or is it that all of Canada hates the Bruins?

The Dallas Stars are one game away from knocking out the Preds. What is going on ?

I guess the old saying that the regular season means nothing once the playoff starts still rings true.

Has the bubble burst for the 'Canes? 6-0 for the Caps tonight.

There are a lot of Bruins fans in Canada. I know quite a few.
I'm not sure this is good for the NHL or not. Top seeds getting knocked out first round. Home ice is clearly no advantage. It make you wonder what the point is of the 82 game grind.

Boston is an Original Six (Boston, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Detroit, Chicago). Hard to break those first allegiances..

Yes, and Bobby Orr is still hugely beloved.
As an elementary school kid,mid 70's, I use to take out the Bobby Orr book all the time. He was the first superstar I remember. I remember watching him om black and white TV.
