So if you ever were curious before but dreaded the bugs and all, now its the time, the game is still gorgeous and surprisingly still have players online for the coop.
you can get it at ubi store directly or going https://register.ubisoft.com/acu-notredame-giveaway/

they are also donating 500k for the rebuilding of the monument.

you know ubisoft is french right ? when was the last time EA,Bethesda,or WB ever gave a free game ? i mean GAME, not those old trash games which IPs they will never touch again that EA did back then.
ubi did after the unity "fiasco",during the division 2 pre order,ac odyssey and farcry5, and not old games either, newly released titles as well.

Um, yes I do know and that further proves my point. I'm fairly confident Ubisoft is hoping to get some kind of future tax breaks in exchange for this gesture of good will.

i'm cinic too, but im sure they have a it was our own mentality here, or they would be giving a discount for the game instead, you see the making off and you really see how the team was proud of working on that game...before it was rushed out as it was taking too long.

Game-wise that game has been one of the worst poorly optimized ubisoft games that I've played. I still struggle to get the game playing decent. That game however has some of the most well designed architecture that I've seen in a game. Its also a game that at the beginning got me excited more so than most other AC titles when it opens up and you're playing as a 1300s Templar. Then the game moved into the main area and I was disappointed not to see anymore of the Templar stuff.

I agree with PanzerMeyer though. A free game is nice but I'm not sure their motivation is genuine. Perhaps employees within the studio are sincere but the company as a whole I don't trust to be so. Like PM says they get attention out of it and unfortunately it may endear themselves to some all the while providing them with PR and or tax breaks. Knowing how chock full of propaganda all their games are when it comes to their artistic license with history and their contempt for a certain faith while at the same time promoting every other ideology under the sun including "social justice" themes, this strikes me as a means for them to gain in someway, even if its simply making them feel like they're doing something good or noble.

EA has occasionally done it. Although the biggest one was a technical issues when you could get Mass Effect, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and all those games back in 2011 or so but they did honor it.

Ubisoft has done this a few times before. I have AC3, 4, Far Cry Blood Dragon, Watch Dogs and a few other decent titles that they gave away for free.

So, out of curiosity, how true to the real world is the ingame Notre Dame?

Ubisuck could offer me anything they have for free and I would pass.

That companies behavior in almost all my dealings with them was abysmal. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with their crap for a long time, and plan to keep it that way.

Very cool.
Fun game and a little different due to the variety of weapons and combat system. It was fun going around the city and a good exercise before the next game that really nailed it. Syndicate, while a little odd due to the two characters, was amazing with London as a setting. Both are very atmospheric.

F4UDash, the Notre Dame as well as the other historical structures are beautifully designed. I'm not sure what the scale is but from the player's perspective I think its dimensional accurate in scale at least in appearance and when up close to it and climbing around. The great architecture plus the game's lighting can produce some really nice imagery.

the monuments are reproduced 1:1, the only one that reutilize tilings texture inside is versalhes, because the france governament didnt allow them to take pictures of some rooms, so you will see the same ceiling murals and pantings on the walls in different rooms, but the archteture is there, some paintings are also forbidden of reproductions i read somewhere, so maybe it was a licensing deal as well.

Ubisoft gonna have the right to tax break, but linked to its donation to rebuild Notre Dame. About the free game, it is a commercial thing I think.

Notre Dame in AC Unity is "nearly 1:1 scale". Source:a developper on french radio RMC yesterday.

I've played the game, not the best AC for sure. Letting appart the misspelled first name of the main character, there is stone everywhere, only stone buildings (except one ward). I think it's strange, in my opinion Paris in AC Unity is more looking like a 1850 Paris than a 1790's Paris.

I've read that Ubisoft is giving the rebuilders all of the work they did on the Notre Dame model. They modeled the building so completely that it should help them rebuild it as closely as possible to its pre fire state.

SHACK! Spot on. And I don't get why everyone is so skeptical when a company tries to do a good thing. So what if they get a tax break? I donated my car and tons of stuff to charity in 2018. When I did my taxes, I claimed the donations on my taxes. Does that somehow make the deed any less important? I think not. Although, it was all fruitless as the new tax plan totally screwed me and I ended up having to pay the government anyway, for the first time in my life. Thanks for that "great" tax plan trump! salute

If there were no tax breaks, most charities would fold. People aren't THAT nice in general. Even most churches send out tax documents for your donations. LOL
