Anyone here own a Mazda 5 Miata? 2010 forward, specifically 2014 onward?

Still own one? Happy with it? Problems with it? Consumer Reports rates Mazda, of any vintage, as an excellent car. Used M 5 Miata tend to be pretty expensive, though, not losing much value over time.

Anyone?

I had one I bought new in 2010 (2.0L Sport Tech). That was the new shape (MK 3.5 I think),a little bigger than the previous model that I found a little tight to be honest with my 6ft height.

I owned it for a year (mid-life crisis purchase) but I was having increased trouble with back problems that meant it had to go for something more practical frown

It had superb build quality but then again I didn't expect anything else from Mazda and no issues in the 12 months I owned it. It was also the most fun I'd ever had on 4 wheels. Only 160 BHP but in that chassis it was more than enough.

I may be able to answer any specific questions you have but I'm not sure if you're in the UK and vehicle specs may be different.

Not that new, but I've had a '96 and a 2000. I wish I still had the 2000, but we had too many cars. I still want another, but probably the new RF since I actually don't care for convertibles. LOL
You can buy a great one used, it's not like they usually get bought by kids. Check enthusiast sites like miata.net and you may find a good owner selling and a searchable history.
Brilliant cars, easy to work on. The most fun you can have driving without driving like an a-hole. For the ones I've had, HIGHLY recommend. Newer...I wouldn't hesitate, they just seem to get built better and better.

First, the internet simply groans under the virtual weight of Mazda Miata owners' forums, I am sure smile

Second, what do you plan to do with it, what's the goal?

Excellent quality, as mentioned, regardless. although in my experience, some cars with less than good reliability ratings from CR are from things like radio controls and cup holders that fail. Yes it is a factor of build quality of course, but I balk at calling a car 'unreliable' becasue of a door handle. Then again I used to spend my time with classic cars which to be frank were built like garbage anyway, so to me "unreliable" means 'car don't go'.

I spent four wonderful years with a similar and less practical (if that's possible) car which was a semi-competitor to the Miata, that has gained the moniker of unreliable. I drove that car, with negligible trunk space, only two seats, for six months a year totaling 54K miles and I regret selling it very much. My car had noisy door latches which were a known factory ill and once they were replaced, the only problem I had was the dealer damaging the damned car. Anyway. My point is that if you're a 'car guy' and you appreciate the function and experience of the car and it's intended role and you like driving for fun, I'd say happy motoring. If you are not, and it will be a daily driver, weight the pros and cons quite carefully. I had no qualms about piling the groceries up on the passenger seat and pass. side floor for example. Some people won't put up with that.

What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen

Gotta say, I had both as daily drivers. Grocery trips weren't a problem since the trunk is good for this kind of car. That rear parcel shelf gets a lot of use as a 2nd trunk...something the RF doesn't have, my only disappointment with potentially owning that car. The '96 had more space though, even with the spare visible, due to being deeper. The only time I had difficulty (both cars) was buying an air filter for the house. 30x20 just didn't want to fit the trunk. It just barely fit awkwardly in the passenger seat. LOL
We have 2 kids, but even before these cars, I never tended to have more than 1 person driving with me. Wife or one of the kids. If I needed more space, my wife and I traded cars for the day. Got by just fine with a family of 4 while driving a 2 seater, in my position at least. No car seats, our kids were older and I just picked up/dropped off one at school.

I own one 2007 NC model , 1.8l 126 HP, so a bit far from the model you look for, but still a very enjoying car to drive( in a cool manner in our nice French Provence roads)...and to show...and the fastest convertible ever to put the top down (and up but one must be careful though)...
