Sorry if it has already been mentionned, and it is probable that some of you already knows this youtube channel: World War Two

As the title of this thread says, this youtube channel covers WWII week by week. If you want to know more about WWII, I think it is a good way. I personnaly have this channel in my favorites. Compare to the average french people I think I know a lot about the WWII in PTO, but I'm also sure I'll learn a lot of things. Because this front in french school are very, very rarely mentionned.

The "show" started in September 1st 2018, so there is already a lot of videos.

An other channel, actually the presenter was the same, made the same thing for the centenary of WWI, it is called The Great War. Obviously the war itself is already completely covered, so it will take you some weeks to see everything if you want to do so.

That is a great channel. I particular like the series The Great War 1919. The story between the wars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTuni75mRkc. It is fascinating stuff.

I'm fairly confident this happens in all countries. Unfortunately history is usually taught and presented in such a way that only certain aspects are emphasized while others are ignored.

For example, I would say that Americans in general are familiar with the Western Front during WW I but are almost completely ignorant about the war in the east between Germany, Austria and Russia or the war between Russia and the Ottoman Empire.

I have always been amazed at how little attention was given to what happened between the two world wars.

From my high school American history class the inter-war period was essentially 60% Great Depression/New Deal, 20% Prohibition and 20% "Other". That "other" included stuff like the rise of fascism in Europe and flapper girls. biggrin
