So I heard about this on the radio yesterday, I live in Sarasota. https://www.wtsp.com/article/news/l.../67-ecea6beb-dae5-4482-99e8-05079acf1666
This morning I'm telling my roommate and he says it's Manslaughter but, is it? What are the legal ramifications other than the family suing for wrongful death ?

Not an attorney but to take a guess ..... its a private helo and if records are produced showing that what would be considered reasonable maintenance was kept up & without any pilot error or safety violations (assuming) causing the accident then i doubt any lawsuit would hold up

As Haggart alluded to, I think it all depends on what caused the crash. If the pilot was flying while high on drugs or inebriated then I'm pretty sure the State could press manslaughter charges. If the crash was due to a mechanical failure and the pilot is properly licensed then there's no way it could be considered manslaughter.

I was at a friends house this weekend and everyone there was a lawyer and I asked them they all had the same answer, unless he knowingly did something criminal like flying the Helo with knowledge of potential failure or while under the influence then no it is an accident.
