To be honest, I was so shocked this time that my lastest random experiment to get photos to show in a post worked that I'm pretty much obligated now to offer up something... So, this is the IJN Akizuki under attack by B-25s. I had it commission built for me. Since it just arrived, I'm still finishing some set up work. I have a second B-25 that will be added. The background was an image I found on FineArtAmerica, then cut it to fit appropriately. These pics are with nothing cleaned or finished, and cellphone quality, but I like them 🙂.

Fantastic!

I especially like the weathering and the water.
The spray off the bow and the wake, with the disturbances from the propeller, are particularly well done, imo. smile

Thanks for the kind responses! The builder served on destroyers in Greece, and has a special fondness for them. He particularly likes how destroyers cut thru the water - he models the bow wake (like everything else) very well.

Ha!

I should have my complete amateur end of the project completed in a week or so (awaiting parts). The original plan was to have a B-25 supported by one of the splashes in the display, but I'm looking to mount it on a clear rod from the back of the case. The idea is to have it in line with the bomb drops, and possibly from some angles suggestive of having been hit by AA.

Something like this: (being an old kid is fun..)

Gorgeous. I've got a similar project on the way but i'm not up for doing the water side of it yet, that's a whole 'nother level of awesome.

Finished getting the second B-25 into place. Drilling a hole into the case for the support arm was pretty scary, but turned out okay. I'm happy with the results, but maybe not as much as I had expect to be. It's still just a bit peculiar. There needs to be lighting adjustments for the shadows to not exaggerate onto the background.
