Brilliant, looking forward to what the future brings with WOTR.
OBD doing what they've always done..continuing to update and improve both WOFF and WOTR,arguably the best Dev team around. Thanks to you and WM Pol also to Robert for the Spit skins and Nolan for the 109 ones
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
The cockpit looks fantastic! Definitely more accurate for a late Mk.IA than CLoD's (which is a weird mix of Mk.II and V).
It's a bit nitpicky I know, but the only thing missing is an additional bolted plate at the top of the armoured windshield, which correlates with the external structure:
Cannot wait for this. Pol, that is looking awesome. I love my Hurricane, but the Spitty is going to add so much to the BOB. The skins are looking great, especially the 109 skins. Love seeing the different skins and this will give WOTR that much more character. Good work all at OBD. Keep it up as hopefully the WOTR base is growing.
Sure - I have pics of the Windscreen so OK there I think but as I say you can never have enough angles and views. If you can zip and send to support email (if not too big).Thanks.
Very nice Bf 109 skins! One minor mistake though, the stencil of the lower cowling belongs to F and later models of the plane, it is not correct for the E model.

EDIT: Pol, nice job on putting that plate at the top of the windscreen like Lythronix mentioned and also the bolt security wires. These are some really nice touches to an already fabulous Spitty Cockpit. Cheers! It is next week plus 23:15 hours!
Looks marvellous Pol. Can’t wait to take it for a spin. Hope you’ll have time to fix the cockpit colour to that aircraft grey-green. The “cockpit green” as it were.
"Take the cylinder out of my kidneys, The connecting rod out of my brain, my brain, From out of my arse take the camshaft, And assemble the engine again."
The colour is grey green just darkened as it's inside and shadowed some and to add depth looking down. Most pics are taken with flash and bleach it out too.
Hi Pol, you will get no argument from me about flash photography bleaching out the colours, I'm just comparing the colour of the cockpit with the Dark Green camouflage that is just beyond in some of the pics. Unless my monitor is totally out of whack the two seem rather close to each other. Looking at the attached pic you can tell them easily apart, despite the flash washing them both out.

Pol, hopefully someone can chime in with correct RGB values for the cockpit paint. Cheers!

Ouch....which way to go with cockpit color as it looks amazing just as is.Truthfully I always found the actual cockpit color in the spits to look garrish and an eye sore and would not mind the current look.

Wow Pol! You’ve modelled the flaps down lever port on the wing!

Hmmmm, there is not much I can say, mums the word and all of that old chaps. I can tell you this, the boys at Old Brown Dog have been busy fellows improving Wings Over The Reich and building a new kite. She is quite the Dame and there is more to her than looks old boy! She is all about power, she has a nasty bite mate and she is not rattled by The Gathering Storm! Once she graces the stage in The Battle of Britain she is going to steal the show!!!
I love the graphic of the cockpits, there may be other sims with technically better graphics but for me I notice no difference whatsoever when flying along, the effect/feel is just great and I look forward to the Spitfire experience.
And on the subject of grpahics I've become a massive fan of the clouds and weather in WoTR, at some angles close up you can unfortunately see the raw structure, but the vast majority of the time the effect is brilliant and very realistic, along with the variance in weather as you cover distance.
(I put a leading edge slats effect in my 109FM Mod, it doesn't have any graphics of course but does trigger an effect at low speeds)
It's absolutely perfect! It appears to be, I'd argue, the most accurate Mk.I Spit created for a sim (the CLoD and A2A Spits may be of a greater texture and model resolution, but both have several accuracy issues. This one is more or less correct!)

I'm getting a little hyped about this now, trying not to, but it'll be nice when it comes.
As well you should be good Sir! All I can say is the Gents at OBD are working very hard to make the Spitty the best that she can be, thus the relative quiet period, they are spending at LOT of time to ensure the best results. I might add that they are doing "Quite Nicely."
As you have guessed, a few of us are doing some beta testing for OBD, I don't even think we all know who we are... Pol was kind enough to allow me to release this short video clip as I was testing some stuff in a quick combat:
Things seem to be coming along quite nicely as far as I can tell. You will notice the cockpit is a much closer shade of green - it really depends a lot on the lighting. I can also tell you that the flaps have an extreme effect on flight and to be careful engaging or disengaging them at low altitude. Other than that, I will just say what I told Pol after the first flight: This thing is a license to murder!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
That was awesome Rick. I just hope people know that that pilot had to be dead when the 109 was circling to the right. Some other sims have AI that do this constant circling when you are fighting them. I have never experienced this behavior in WOTR, so I have to believe that pilot was dead and the 109 was just on its own.
Either that or he had already bailed as I closed in on the final few turns. I imagine there's an LOD where the canopy model kicks in, so he could have got out sooner than I thought.

Super excited for the future of this game, I am a bit worn out on the BOB, but the excellent AI and campaign are plenty enough to keep me interested, can't wait to see what future modules are available, flying some newer 109s or maybe even some American aircraft in this game is going to be truly spectacular.

Hey, JonRedcorn - I see you on the IL2GBS official forums as well. If you are the slightest bit interested in WWI, don't forget to pick up WOFFUE - OBD has made a very fine art out of AI programming and sp dynamic campaign generation, truly truly outstanding. And yes, I think the future is bright for the Wings Over series.
Great shots Blade, and a great video Rick..Its good to see some new faces over here, nice one. Im also super excited Jon,with support there,s every chance that WOTR will grow in strength. Im so looking forward to what OBD brings us in the future.

Thanks guys, hopefully get the word out so we can get some more people interested in the game, all the new sims have fantastic graphics and flight models and everything else but they lack in depth singleplayer, the campaign and squad system in this games truly remarkable. Morale?! Can't believe some of the stuff in here. Happy to be involved.
mmmmmmmmmm Enemy Coast Ahead ( after 109 E-3 109 F Spit V ) Tiffie's and Mossie's. Thunderbolts and Mustangs ( early models ) FW 190's Me 210's and 410's Maybe !
Dont forget to have a look at Chiefs mods and his Enhanced map aswell guys,i personnally love them and im sure he would welcome any feedback\suggestions

Last month, I had my first character survive the Battle. It is brilliant because I ended up being transferred up North and you get to fly that flight; whilst I knew that this was effectively 'game over', I actually found myself enjoying the flight and relieved that "I" and the other flight members were coming out of the fighting and would survive (for now at least, the Circuses of 1941 being yet to come of course ).
Other sims out there don't make me glad to get away from the action*, and again, brilliantly this reflects some of the real Battle of Britain accounts I've read where pilots at first were keen for action (as I feel when in the convoy battle stage) but ultimately ended up tired and seeking a break whether from relocation or just a couple of days of bad weather (again an option in this sim whether you fly or not).
I am pleased but also slightly bewildered that it takes people working on such an old game engine bringing it up to date as best they can to provide the closest thing to the kind of sim I've always wanted. It's not perfect, but it so often meets my entertainment expectations perfectly.
* I would like the option of transferring squadron, be it at the point of being 'retired' from the fight or at general request at any time, as I've read a few times from pIlots that they would make requests or get strings pulled to get into the action or be brought over to different squadrons by their old leders who were promoted elsewhere etc.
And just to add to that, stay tuned as Bf109 skins are in development.

I know it was such a minority of the total Spitfire force during the battle (10% in June 1940, even less by August), but I'd happily part ways with some money for the Spitfire IB (both the early cannon-only and later standardised B-wing models) fielded by No.19 Squadron between June and September, and by No.92 and others from October into 1941.
It might help when building the Mk V for the next expansion (the first Vs were IB conversions if I remember correctly)
