Little chilly here. Brings back memories of 96.

Current conditions in New Ulm,MN

Was so windy on her deck and in blowing snow I had a hard time seeing exhaust port. Got it cleared of a wasp nest and away it went.

She was freaked out that I would go it in this weather, told her, you dress for it and no problem.

Yep, same here. The furnace is working pretty hard. It's pretty funny how fast the dogs can do "their business" when they want to. It's going to be rainy and 45 degrees next week. Pot holes and water main breaks, here we come.

We got lucky and only had enough snow to make an appearance, and it didn't stay down to form a sheet of ice.

Ok, just went and checked outside temps.

Ouch, -24F with -56F windchill. Winds our howling out and blowing snow.

Going to be a fun night, bet I will loose at least 4 furnaces.

I thought I just saw a woolly mammoth on my front lawn. Even he looked cold.

And here we are in England worrying about disruption to travel caused by about half-inch of snow and -5c smile

-29 / -54 windchill in Mankato.. Saw 3 cars on my way to work. usually see that many within the first minute. Like a ghost town out there.

And here I am complaining that it isn’t going to reach 70f today and didn’t take one of my convertibles out for lunch.

I was raised in Pennsylvania and wintered in Alaska so I understand what some of you are going through.

After living in Florida there is no way I would go back to that.

Yep. I love the weather in Georgia. Our family had a Condo in FL for the last twenty years, so I'm quite familiar with the state, but unless you're on the coast, it gets HOT. Not that it doesn't get nut-sweating hot here, but it's hotter there. And I'd take either before living up north. Sadly(or happily, depending on how you look at it), if Arizona proves to help my wife's illness, we might be moving there or Utah later this year. I guess that's about as far from snow as you can get. And water... And anything else that isn't scaly, with eight legs, or bites.

Geez...I'm picturing a "Day after tomorrow" scenario where you folks are burning books and furniture to stay alive when the furnace goes out.

I hope you all are able to stay safe and ride it out until it's over without too much issue!

Michigan Governor has enacted a state of emergency. Usually I dislike over hype of weather situations, but this is over the top for us. If the power outages start to get widespread, it could be dangerous.

After being stationed in GA there’s no way I’d go back to that (the south.) It’s too hot down there! Staying warm is easy, it’s keeping cool in the summer that’s hard! Much over 70F and I’m uncomfortable.

Yeah...it's always easier to "layer up" and get warmer...there's only so many clothes you can peel off to cool down though.

For this warm-blooded Southerner, there comes a point when cold temps physically hurt. Heat can be uncomfortable, but cold can cause real pain. I'll stay in the South.

This is what I'll be listening to in NYC the second week of March while I'm freezing my ass off (as I did last April when a major winter storm hit the Plains and Midwest, named "Xanto")...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlNO8zGgCGw

Lyrics...

All the stations up here don't sign off with Dixie
The way they did in sweet home Alabama
And the people here don't sip Jack Daniels whiskey
The way they do in that Tennessee mountain land

I've always heard lots about the big apple
So I thought I'd come up here and see
But all I've seen so far is one big hassle
Wish I was camped out on the Okeechobee

If this is the promised land, I've had all I can stand
And I'm headed back below that Dixie line
No I just don't fit in and I'll never come back again
But I'm busted here with Dixie on my mind
Oh, I'm stuck up here and I got Dixie on my mind

These people never smile or say a word
They're all too busy tryin' to make an extra dime
Oh, I'd love to haul 'em all down around Spartanburg
And show 'em how to raise hell in Carolina

Oh, the things you know that I miss most of all
Is the freedom of the rivers and the pines
They don't do much huntin' and fishin' up here, ya know
But I have met a few squirrels and one porcupine

Well if this is the promised land, I've had all I can stand
Wish I was down in Houston town tonight
Now I just don't fit in and I'll never come back again
I'm busted here with Dixie on my mind
Oh, I'm stuck up here and I got Dixie on my mind

The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in
Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
