Yeah, but it's for WoTR. But hear me out...I had this stupid song in my head and decided to go with it. If you haven't jumped on WoTR, now is the perfect time: it's at an extremely reasonable price, has had several patches that have really upped the ante with bomber size and formation adjustments, BF 110 flight model adjustments and ...well, just listen to the song:

Anyway, I hope you join in, the more the merrier! Here's the link to the forum topic! salute

Believe me, if it could handle real VR then I would buy it. Still miss the immerse game mode OBD can bring in, but after using my Samsung Odyssey+ there is no way going back to the flat screen combat fly sim type.

Intriguing, I will have to give that setup a try sometime... Not to hijack my own thread, but how do you deal with interacting with the keyboard?

For the most important functions I do use the joystick and the Saitek Quadrant. For the rest I lift the headset to look below to the keyboard.
But believe me this is all very expensive, forget all the crazy readings about my i7-2600k GTX1060-3gb can run BoX in VR, not true, it needs “top of the line” hardware.

My i7-7700k GTX1080 and even the DDR4 had to be overclocked to keep the BoX game smooth. For a decent level of playing BoX, you need an 5ghz CPU, GTX1080ti or RTX2080 and 3200mhz RAM as an good starting point. BTW, for BoX in VR you can not use nVidia SLI mode.

Pimax 5k seems to be the best VRset, but for VR starters only I would wait what HTC, Valve and XTAL is going to release.

Once try realVR in a flysim and you will never going back. For most here TrackIR was an eyeopener, but I compare realVR more to my first joystick (MS-FFB gameport) or the Voodoo Vcard for RB3d. That feeling!

edit:
Just feel in vr how small the Macchi 202 cockpit is, move the canopy put your head out of the cockpit and hear the wind/see the exhaust, feeling your stomach while making a to sharp manoeuvre and at last the real 3d cockpit. You are now entering in a real flight.

This is the part I was worried about. I guess full clickable cockpit would solve most of the problem...a few years and the cost should come down a lot...I remember back in the early nineties when we would do our Red Baron challenges and set up a fan to blow on you. Now that was realism!

Rick, did you keep the freezer open so that the fan would blow cold air? Did you smear any blood from the ground beef packages on your goggles when hit? That’s real VR!

For me I do not have any problems finding the important functions on the JS or quadrant.
I never did play it, but DCS seems to have an clickable cockpit so if wanting then this would be your choice of VR game.

There are a few flight sims with clickable cockpits on steam. Besides DCS, there is VTOL. Ultrawings is a fun flight sim that has clickable cockpit. There may be others. Racing sim like project cars 2 allow you to use headset, controller or mouse to select a menu item and click it. Most VR games use its contollers in lieu of keyboard and mouse. VR is getting more affordable now with a couple that were on sale for less than $200. The odyssey plus (better than vive) and oculus were on sale a few weeks ago. Amazon got sold out of oculus during its sale.

It's definitely a niche market right now, but once you're immersed inside the 3D world of VR you'll never want to play pancake games again.

It was pretty cold in Maine...
