So I watched “Bird Box” to finally see what all of the commotion was about. What a overhyped and overrated mediocre movie which is full of plot holes and crappy logic! Also, the main antagonist is some kind of invisible wind spirit?? Are you kidding me?
Oh well, at least some of the performances were quite good; especially from John Malkovich.

I found it to be watchable but yeah, way over-hyped. John Malkovich was the highlight for me. To some extent I can forgive plot holes and 'crappy logic' as you put it Panzer but this one stretched it a little.

that does not make much sense. No kidding! Where do I begin? 1. Why do some people not commit suicide and instead just go insane when they see the demons or whatever they are? 2. Where did these things come from and why did they show up now and what’s their motive? Not only were none of these questions answered but there weren’t even any clues given to help explain.

That will be in the prequel. (no, I've not watched it and have no intention to)

I think it is supposed to be the rapture. So all the good people see something that makes them want to die and all the bad people just see the monster / angel but are not encouraged to kill themselves. Kind of a reverse rapture where instead of all the good just being taken to heaven they are encouraged to kill themselves to get there. Didnt make much sense but... it was an ok movie.

So apparently «Bird Box Challenge» is a thing now. Blindfolding yourself and walking around in traffic, driving your car. You know, sensible stuff. Sometimes I wonder if humanity is getting less enlightened the more information we have available at our fingertips. Netflix actually had to post this:
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Could it be that the whole Bird Box challenge is just an overblown non-story just to add some "hype" to promote the show. That seems likely but I was really hoping that Darwin was thinning the herd.

The only thing that stood out for me in the movie was the performance by John Malkovich. Then again, he has never disappointed me in any film or show I’ve seen him in.

I don't want to take this conversation sideways but this sentence jumped out at me. My thought is, who or what is to say they don't? I mean just from some first hand experience and observation, I see plenty of depressed people going insane. Perhaps not in the dramatic wild haired lunatic kind of way, but nevertheless gone.

In the movie, everyone who gets visually exposed to the spirit or whatever it is committed suicide immediately. The exception are these few people who instead of committing suicide right away, instead became zombie-like. Maybe the book went into more detail about why this was the case but the film had zero explanation.

Because of Rap!
Dunno, just sliding a snarky answer in on a thread about some social media loved garbage movie, that I didn't or would never watch. I actually used the hype on NF and trying to shove it down my throat in my explanation to Netflix on why I cancelled at the end of December.
I actually cancelled because I had ran out of cool stuff to watch. In about six months they'll give me a free month and I'll try it again for a month or two.
Censored
Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

I liked it better when I saw it back in 2008 when it was called "The Happening"! And it was still crappy then too.
I felt like JJ Abrams wrote this movie. You know, the whole, "I don't' need to explain anything, it just IS so go with it" style. It makes me wonder sometime why stars take on movies like this--I mean, they have to have the common sense to say that hey, this can't logically happen or question plot holes and so on.
Very disappointed in that movie.
