Hello, I am now using FF6 and trying to get back into flying campaigns.
Does anyone remember how you could see the ground war going on from your cockpit while ingressing to your target? Explosions, mortar fire, shoulder-fired AA rockets, etc.?? This was with the original disk install, and patched f4108us, and I believe it was still occurring in SP3?
Anyway, I have not seen it anymore in any of the FF series. Of course, I can see the explosions on the ground from the plane dropped weapons, but a visible ground-war going on in the distance is no longer a feature? I sure do miss it. It was very immersive. Thanks, AO

FF6 is no longer supported (for years), so not sure what kind of help you will get with that.
BMS is the way to go. All you need is a valid install of Falcon 4.0 and you can get to see the ground war you desire. So you're saying this effect is in BMS? I still have the original Falcon 4.0 disk and notebook. How do I get BMS? Thanks, AO

1. Install the original Falcon 4.0 2. Download BMS 4.33 from the BMS forum links with updates and install that.

Guys, thanks for the advice. Downloaded BMS. Unfortunately, I took MigBuster's advice literally and installed the original F4, then installed BMS. I already had FF6 installed and now it no longer works, I'm assuming that may be because BMS 'checks' for an F4 install and recognized both the FF6 AND the F4 installs and made them null. (I might be wrong.) Anyway, BMS works great and looks be-u-ti-ful!
One problem thou......My MFD's are un-readable. Anything I can do for this? Thanks,
AO
PS: By the way, I saw the ground-war on my first mission!

Glad you like it. As for the MFD problem...is it a gfx problem or are they not large enough in scale? If it's the latter issue, you can change the scale of the radar and HSD in the Config folder of your install or use the Configuration tool on the start up screen. If it's the former, you might try a search on the BMS forums. It may also help to know what video card you are using and any other useful information you might think relevant, i.e. display settings, single or multiple screens, head tracking, etc. I'm sure you'll figure it out and I'm sure someone has been through it before. Many are standing by to help on the BMS forums. Pro tip...just stay away from the DCS thread. P.S. Not a jab at DCS or those who fly it, but that thread can get distracting at times and doesn't reflect well, the nature of most sim pilots from either side.

BTW, don't forget to check out all of the different theaters as well.
Quite a few of them have working campaigns.
YMMV
Also. I think there is a way to keep FF6 working while having BMS installed, but may involve the use of a separate HDD or SSD. That might be on the BMS forums as well, but not sure.
Either way, with the rights to the Falcon 4.0 code belonging to a company that is selling Falcon on Steam and GOG, it is now required to have a valid copy of F4 installed on your PC.
