I have flown quite a few missions and am amazed at how many hits, especially with nthe cannon from the 109, it can take and still keeps flying. It seems like I have a number of times practically emptied my guns and cannons on just 1 before it goes down. just an observation.
I haven't flown much from the German side. What hit % are we talking about? I find it varies a lot from the Brit side, seeming to take all the rounds from time to time.

It didn't take but one pass last night for the AI 109 to end Chris Wednsforth's Career and life!!! 2.2 hours and 4 kills and guess what I wasn't watching as I was entering into a frontal engagement!
Yeah, I've seen them take a cannon round or two as well, where you hit them seems to make a big difference. I think there's a fair amount of empty space under the skin...

Again, from the Allied player perspective the hurricane feels spot on as a gaming experience with regards to damage. From time to time I'm destroyed in a flash but most often a light peppering, even from bomber defences, is enough to force me to break for home, either injured, with reduced controls, or in fear of that manifold pressure starting to fade (LOVE that effect).
Maybe, just guessing here, the AI are slightly less protective of their life, only disengaging when it ' knows' the aircraft is damaged to a certain extent. So they may be more active than a human would be under the same damage. (I'm not saying this is a problem as such, just an explanation, WotR is pretty good for the AI disengaging I think so far).
Of course, there is a chance cannon shells are not doing what one would expect them to, I'll be interested to see how it goes when I get round to an Axis career.
So far though, compared to what I have read recently in a book on Hurricanes and their pilot experiences, the damage, injuries, nature of the encounters and even the ' boredom' of uneventful missions is really well represented in WotR. WotR really thrives (like any combat sim) when you're trying to protect your virtual pilot. In the book I read all the pilots feared cannon shells, but repeatedly they talk of a simple leak of coolant being dreaded, as they knew they were on a short timer (they would also count glycol leaking 109s as kills if over the UK, because they knew they couldn't get back over the channel in time.
After having now flown a couple of times as the 109 and sat behind a Hurricane landing hit after hit and from varying angles, yes it does seem like the Hurricane is getting away with it somewhat.
Here's a vid from first engagement through denouement. My shooting was terrible, but he didn't seem to take too much damage for believability. Of course, I have no way to guarantee that he wasn't injured before he ran into me. Also, I was low on cannon rounds from previously shooting the wing off a Spit, so I ran out during the fight and had to finish with M/G.

tbh It's a revelation to me to see an airframe that doesn't crumple after one or two its like the crappy modelling of other sims. Can't say as I miss the requisite for accurate shot placement.
Let's pretend I got the BWOC badge to embed here.
