I suppose, we can dispense of the old adage that no serious fight lasts longer than 20 seconds; after all these are top killers fighting each other, so it may take a bit longer to find a chink in the defense. I especially like the improvisation, whether it's the pen in the Paris apartment (1st film), or the rolled-up news magazine as a short stick in the 2nd:

The battle/fight scenes in "Last Samurai" are indeed great. What really made the film special to me was Ken Watanabe's tour de force performance. He was fantastic.

Well, he did have a lot of experience playing Japanese characters. wink

Great fight scene IMO:

The Hit Girl scene at Rassul's in the first Kick A$$ movie has got to be one of the most unexpected approaches to a fight scene based simply on the fact that she was a little girl.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

Well, I'm following Forum rules.

And we do have problems with people murdering each other. No one likes when it happens. That's all I'll say because I don't want this thread going PWEC.

Well the murdering is pretend, the profanity is real.

One of the best melee scene in movies:

Of course, the Princess Bride itself being one of the greatest movies of all time, helps. smile

Yes, the brutal fight in the bathroom at the French nightclub was very well done.

And this isn't from a movie, but I'll include it anyway.

I always found this exchange between them in that scene quite humorous.

Inigo Montoya: Who are you?
Man in Black: No one of consequence.
Inigo Montoya: I must know...
Man in Black: Get used to disappointment.

Guys, "melee" has a broad definition in general as a loud confused fight in a crowd or mob, but usually it's assumed to mean hand to hand combat

I'll take almost anything with Toshiro Mifune

What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen
