I have some considerable doubts about how this will turn out but at least Ridley Scott is involved so hopefully the film will turn out very good.

It's hard to believe for me sometimes that "Gladiator" came out 18 years ago. It seems like yesterday!

I'm sceptical smile Prometheus didn't do the Alien franchise any favours. However, I'm sure it will look good smile
OTOH Blade Runner sequel was pretty good.

But that one wasn't directed by Ridley. smile

I think BR 2049 is really fantastic and a worthy sequel.

Sooooooo...

Minimus the gladiator will submit to Cleopatrix, the champion, whom will destroy him and his family and everything they have and return to a life of subservient slavery for all of eternity.

That is, only after he's brought down from his patriarchal throne of narcissistic dominant rule of sexist oppression and suppression in an inequal fashion insistent on male and female gladiators participating in not only separate tournaments, but other sports, too. But oh, don't forget, Sir Butticus will have a "moment" with Minimus in the depths of a seedy bathhouse rears, where Minimus will receive ample supplication and reeducation in the finer arts of bent back empathetic pleasures.

Oh, boy.

Ridley Scott can't stick to a two hour long movie, since he did Kingdom of Heaven. The theatrical release of that movie was totally different from his director's cut version. I'm afraid we'll get a mediocre version in the theaters and a bloated one when it comes out on DVD.

isnt he the guy that RUINED the alien FRANCHISE ? oh right, i forgot, there is no franchise only alien and prometheus prequels.........guy is arrogant and lost his touch. i remember when the movie released rumours (well speculation really) was that it would follow the black gladiator that got freed, that would be a nice story. now ? who cares........ might as well reboot with a amazon for all i care

Will it be Rosey O'Donnell or Opra Winfrey who plays the role of Marcus Attilius ?

Will Bigus Dickus be in it?

Maximus died in the original, will he walk out of the bath house and it was all a dream?

My initial feeling when I read the article I posted was "No" but I will be very curious to see if the writers can indeed find a way to continue the story and make it compelling.

It will be very difficult in my opinion but nothing is impossible.

I would have eaten up a sequel 17 odd years ago but now, i'll probably get suckered into it lol. I imagine you would have read the original (weird af) sequels idea/script back in the day?
