I think BR 2049 is really fantastic and a worthy sequel.

Minimus the gladiator will submit to Cleopatrix, the champion, whom will destroy him and his family and everything they have and return to a life of subservient slavery for all of eternity.
That is, only after he's brought down from his patriarchal throne of narcissistic dominant rule of sexist oppression and suppression in an inequal fashion insistent on male and female gladiators participating in not only separate tournaments, but other sports, too. But oh, don't forget, Sir Butticus will have a "moment" with Minimus in the depths of a seedy bathhouse rears, where Minimus will receive ample supplication and reeducation in the finer arts of bent back empathetic pleasures.
Ridley Scott can't stick to a two hour long movie, since he did Kingdom of Heaven. The theatrical release of that movie was totally different from his director's cut version. I'm afraid we'll get a mediocre version in the theaters and a bloated one when it comes out on DVD.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever.
isnt he the guy that RUINED the alien FRANCHISE ? oh right, i forgot, there is no franchise only alien and prometheus prequels.........guy is arrogant and lost his touch. i remember when the movie released rumours (well speculation really) was that it would follow the black gladiator that got freed, that would be a nice story. now ? who cares........ might as well reboot with a amazon for all i care
As usual, I will remain optimistic and hopeful until I see the results.
+1

It will be very difficult in my opinion but nothing is impossible.

I would have eaten up a sequel 17 odd years ago but now, i'll probably get suckered into it lol. I imagine you would have read the original (weird af) sequels idea/script back in the day?
