unlock pilot files so we can integrate programs like WOFFice. +1 i've just gotten WOFF after a hiatus from flightsims (after an even longer spell of being devoted to them—my exploits on the virtual western front began back in subLOGIC days, with a lot of time spent with RB2/RB3D, and the last one i had enjoyed being OFFHitR) and, while it's truly a beautifully impressive collection of work and oodles and oodles of fun!!, i find that i'm missing the squadron narrative experience that OFFice/OFFbase provided... (on a side & parenthetical note: i seem to remember that RB2/RB3D had a "mod" of sorts very similar to OFFice/OFFbase though requiring some actual bookkeeping by the player, but i'll be damned if i can remember what it was called or who authored it... 'any of the other old hands here recall something like this?) cheers. ym

. Or unlock campaign data files and aircraft files so modders can make their own planes flyable in campaigns and maybe mod the eastern front with planes and unlock pilot files so we can integrate programs like WOFFice. So much more can be done with this sim, just need dev's permission. I agree completely OldHat, never understood why those files suddenly had to be encrypted in WOFF. I don't recall any abuses ever surfacing in the numerous versions of OFF when such files were open to us, but I certainly do recall the wonderful mods that were developed or in the process of being developed because of the access we had then. OFFice/OFFbase was the best of such mods back then but is now of course rendered useless by the encryption. And I now find it impossible to take any of my earlier theater mod projects anywhere in WOFF, so the Middle East, Italy, the Dardanelles, and such all sit collecting dust in my old OFF folders. Too bad really. As to dutch, they call him "Mister Silk". .

OldHat/Lou;
I feel your pain regarding file encryption affect on modding. I have come to the opinion that it was the devs decision based on ensuring integrity of their sim and no doubt to eliminate having to deal with support issues that would trace back to third party developers.
The second concern would not raise it's head if third party developers always provided a clean elegant back out option.
As you are well aware, the devs won't look at a problem unless their sim is a clean install.
Just my two cents worth of thoughts.
In closing I agree that it is too bad we can no longer contribute or work towards some elegant add ons
