Great pics Carrick first two. Something looks wrong on the 3rd pic tho, some tiling on the skin? Do you have aircraft detail turned down or something or is it a custom skin?

Those Flying Pencils need to tighten up their formation very considerably! Looks like a stock CFS3 bomber formation there, ie same as fighters. I know it was 'close up for fighters, spread out for flak' (ie spacing could be varied depending on the threat) but even for flak, that Do 17 outfit looks way too spread out.

Formations in WOTR or WOFF have nothing at all to do with CFS3.

Like the Vietnamese army officer supposedly said to the US Army officer who observed that the latter never lost a battle in the Vietnam War, Pol, that may be true, but it is irrelevant. The Dorniers (and German bombers generally, from what I have seen) should be in much tighter formation.

Downed an He111, but he shot me up a bit.
Lost Oil pressure crossing the coast.
Engine died, Landing gear would not deploy.
Managed to get her onto the field.
Plane was a bit dinged up, but I was unscathed.

Videos I don't need- it has nothing to do with not believing you. Just confirming the formations are not controlled by CFS3, little is.
So it not irrelavant, it was correcting an asumption. It can be adjusted, but that would be for all. We do not have variable formations depending on craft type and situation - that would be a new feature, maybe one day...

Fair enough Pol but I wasn't assuming that the formations were those of CFS3 (which WoFF significantly fixed/improved on, of course, not least the formation-keeping). Just stating that they looked like them ie too widely spaced for bombers. Variable formation sizes would be a needless feature; if anything, ketten within a staffel changing formation for the bomb run would be more worthwhile, tho again unessential. What really appears to be needed (IF the pics I have seen are representative) is the default bomber formation spacing to be significantly tighter than in that pic, even allowing for FoV.

But yes great pics. And bravo for choosing the Hurricane over the sexier Spitfire for the RAF's leading lady.

I may pick this up for Christmas tho as well as seemingly small formation sizes, I am very wary of the apparent lack of simulation of ground control interaction. Stock CFS3 didn't suffer too badly from that, due to its tactical setting (tho even there it should be present) but for the Battle, and for any tactical setting involving the player in a radio- and radar-based air defence, something better than using the TAC is needed, which CFS2 managed via scripted campaign missions but CFS3 bottled it.

I posted an After Action Report in the AAR thread above with a lot of new pictures. It is actually a During Mission Report actually captioning the mission from beginning to end as I flew it as a British pilot. I had fun writing it and of course flying it and taking the pics. Check it out here if you like.

Here are a couple of pics from it. Hope you enjoy if you do check it out. winkngrin

Sure but when you say "Looks like a stock CFS3 bomber formation there," many people including me take that as "looks like they are using" which is not the case, so I am clearing it up that's it.

If people sit and wait until maybe one day it's the perfect sim with a trillion features. then we won't get there as there won't be enough sales to carry on. Everyone has their pet feature or interest and it takes years to add all the small items that half a dozen people would not like or want.

Formation spacing can be easily edited. Its the days of testing all possibilities of situations and all aircraft that takes the time.

Great pic... I can just imagine the pilot thinking ''I really need a cup of tea, can someone fetch the NAAFI wagon... I'm a bit parched''

The Plane is a bit dinged up?... Did you say the plane is a bit dinged up?.. No you didn't say The Plane is a bit dinged up did you Stache???
Common Mannn!!! Dude, you tore off both wings, bent every blade of the prop, you tore off the whole underside of the plane including the radiator scoop. This is not to mention the 3 bullet holes in the cylinder head that you can see in the panel above the exhaust manifold and then there is the gaping hole through the access panel right below the exhaust manifold!!! You lost oil pressure? Geee, I wonder how you lost oil pressure??? I thought these Rolls Royce engines had self sealing cylinder heads? A little bit dinged up! Your Superior needs to put you in Tiger Moths from now on. At least they are cheaper to write off when you ding them up a bit. A bit dinged up!!! Off to CLOD with you!!! cuss

Loved your "In Your Face" picture above.

Thanks Pol.
