As you can see by my specs below, I am using a GTX1080 to drive 4 monitors. I have 2 spare GTX295 cards laying around. If I put one in my system next to my 1080, can I take some of the load off my 1080 by using the 295 to drive my 4th monitor?

Main PC: ASUS P8Z77 - Intel I7 3770K OC to 4.4GHZ - Thermaltake Water2.0 Pro
GeForce GTX 970
16 Gig G.Skill Ares DDR3
Samsung EVO SSD 500GB
Plenty of storage
Windows 7 64bit
ASUS PB278Q @ 2560x1440

SIMPIT: ASUS Prime Z370-A, I7 8700K, H80i-V2 watercooler
ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080
Windows 10 64bit

In normal circumstances, you can run different GPU's in a non-SLI configuration but as far as I can recall doing this only allows the second card to take on the PhysX calculations.....if you want an SLI configuration then the GPUs need to be the same model (i.e. GTX 1080 but not necessarily the same brand) and linked by an SLI bridge.......the other issue I can see is that the GTX295 is a dual PCB GPU and is effectively already configured with the SLI properties within the Nvidia Control Panel? If I remember correctly, when that particular card is paired with another GTX295 it would then effectively be running in Quad SLI and the driver support was horrible for that particular setup and many people used to disable at least one of the GPUs on one of the cards to get it stable.

When I used 2 of these GTX295s together in SLI, they did great!. I wasn't planning on SLI'ng it with my GTX1080. I was wondering if I could use a second card to power my 4th monitor. Thereby effectively dropping the load of having to power 4 monitors with my 1080. This in turn I was hoping to increase my FPS on my triple monitor setup for flight sims, namely Xplane11.
