Is this board pretty close to plug and play as a shift reg input? a friend wants to make a button box and I don't have the time to put together a debolestis board for him.

I'm from Argentina. You can do it like this. It is time consuming and is not pretty, but it do work.

That is how I did my Shift RegisterBoards for the 74HC165 Chips too , except I used single layer Copper Clad Prototype or Solderable Breadboards like the BPS SB4 and sockets incase the 74HC165 went bad or I killed it with bad wiring smile

SchmartBoard also has many premade PCB that may work for the TLE 8pin Chips.

I have some of these for another Conversion I am planning but have not done yet , the switch on them is for use with MMJoy2 OR EJoy32 Firmware and Boards which use a different ground (High/Low) than Arduinos like the ProMicro or Leo.

Mine came as part of a package deal with the TLE5010 boards and a STM32 EJoyV3 board from New Hope Store too...Tammy (Owner) was fairly easy to deal with even with the language barrier and gave me a better price for multiples. I paid for Shipping with the "via HongKong" addon ($2) and it proved to be much faster than the 1st shipment (but I'm not in the US)

biggrin that's not the point. I just wanted to know if it's possible raw output of the TLE5011

Reading your comment, I'm a bit unclear. Does that mean it will or will not work with a ProMicro?

I have a ProMicro clone I'm planning on loading with mmjoy2, and I'd like to make sure this shift register kit would work with it.

Commercial joysticks use an torsion spring in their twist axis mechanism, in a very "meh" implementation. Spring similar to this:

This New Hope "Shift Register board with 74HC165 ic board is made for their "Mjoy" joystick controller based on ATMEGA32u4 and using MMjoy2 firmware or "Ejoy" based on STM32 (ARM).

No reason for that Shift Register board for don't work in DIY Arduino PRO Micro MMjoy2 assembly, unless non compatibility of JS3 plugs in cables, what is easy to replace.

I have no reason to think they won't work, in fact it should be far easier that making my own as I did last time....and it was Cheaper by the time you add a PCB , Chips, chip holders etc , but these were not available when I did my 1st FLCS/TQS 12-18mths ago.

Perhaps make PCB round? (or remount switch on round PCB , same size as hole where tac switches are now .....maybe hard to center switch though.

maybe depend on button being used too ?

Thanks Sokol1, ya have a torsion spring of a door. the diameter is 24mm so i bought plumbing components to see if you can do something similar

You can theoretically make your own single layer PCB but be careful with the Chemicals used , there are many tutorials online now like at Sparkfun
https://www.sparkfun.com/news/2116

In the MMJoy2 Folder you will find the PCB Folder with some example .Lay6 files which can be opened with Sprint Viewer .....Sprint Viewer (not Demo) will allow you to Print them to PDF, I used them to make my own Shift Register Boards with 2x 74HC165chips but I just used ProtoBoard for them , I didn't etch my own.

Note that different MMJoy2 Firmwares come with different PCB examples and not all of them are 100% correct.

The Magnets need to be Diametrically magnetized , 6 or 8mm round will work slightly larger if it has a hole in the middle for mounting.
If you buy the TLE Boards from AliExpress, they come with the magnets.

Most of this Info is in the Thread too, especially from when I started my 1st Conversion and had all the same questions , I think I started here about page 119 ....
Magnet info page 138=142 ?

KB.

Is the magnet 4mmx0.2mm?

The ones that came with my TLE5010 Boards are 3.5mm dia. x 2.5mm thick. ( maybe called 4mm dia. x 3mm thick?)

But I also have 6mm x 6mm x 6mm cubes magnets too

0.2mm is like the thickness of 2 pieces of paper

See pages 138-142 or the thread

Hi Kbird!

About magnets:
Doesn't need to be Diametrically magnetized.
Diametrically magnetized is much more expensive.

In my first project ( suncom F-15 new gimbal ) I use flat cilinders 5x2mm non diametrically magnetized. I use two flat cilinders in each axis.
In ebay:
neodymium magnets

In my second project ( DIY BRD ) I use 5X5mm cubes.
In ebay:
neodymium cubes

Both cases work fine.

The important thing is to position both poles in front of the sensor.

Hi JJCTHMFS!

As mentioned by KBird, you can do the TLE PCB by yourself, as I do. Do you live in Argentina? I assume you speak spanish hermano.

Usted puede hacer por tu mismo, pero requiere mucha paciencia e alguna habilidad en hacer e soldar los componentes. E tiene que trabajar com material corrosivo, asi que es bueno investigar mucho antes de hacerlo.

What does the community think about this gimbal? as it looks a lot like the VKB and the WARBRD https://github.com/o-devices/o-joystick-hdk I can use the 3D printed pices and cast them or use them to cut metal parts for the final product

Can you have two hardware buttons activate the same software button on release?

Example being an on (button 1)-off-on(button 2) toggle switch, with the release of either button 1 or button 2 automatically triggering a button 3. (that isn't available on the actual switch's off position)
