I currently have 16 Gig of DDR4 2400 RAM. I use it for flight sims. Xplane11, DCS, P3D. Would it be better to increase my RAM to 32GB or replace the 16GB 2400 RAM to a faster RAM?

More is better than higher clock rates. But at 16GB I doubt you're running into limits?

Hi, IS the RAM you have an OC version?? You may be able to use an XMP PRofile for that RAM in BIOS to get it too run faster..

I have 32GB and I've tried various speeds with my AMD system (not with Intel).

Going from 16GB to 32GB made no performance difference in anything I do (including games FPS).

Going past 2700MHz made no measurable difference in things I do. Going from 2400MHz to 2700MHz made a very slight measurable difference because AMD Ryzen CPU speed is "tied" to memory speed up to that number.

Based on history, I imagine (but don't know for sure), increasing memory speed from 2400 on Intel will make less than 1 percent difference in FPS.

Personally, I'd consider putting the money on a faster GPU. But, you already have a "fast enough" GPU. I.e. your system is so good, it might be right to wait until next year when the 7nm products hit the shelves. That's my plan -- but, since I like to buy things, it may be hard to stick to that plan wink

If your'e gaming only then 16GB to 32GB isn't going to make a difference outside the most unoptimised game on the planet which is DCS - and 32GB is only going to help with missions incorporating lots of assets.

The RAM speed will not make any noticeable difference.

Either of the above options would be a nice to have, but in no way would give any value for money. If you do work outside of gaming on your rig, then the additional RAM may be an option.

I'd suggest your cheapest upgrade option would be to go GTX 1080 in SLI, but that's only if you're driving your 3 screens in your sims - I'm only recommending that now due to the fact that you can get a new or used GTX 1080 for peanuts since the RTX2080's were announced/launched.

Thanks for all your input. I will stick with what I have and will consider another 1080 in the future.
